Resolved Cannot Install on Mac?

(This is in Steam)
So I went to properties>Beta and introduced the password of MonoGame2016.
After that, it opened another beta option called "mac_linux_test - Mac and Linux test branch"
I typed the password again and it said "Access code correct, private beta mac_linux_test is now available"
I closed it, tried to install it again, but it only says "Stardew Valley is not available on your current platform."

 

Me neither, I got the exact same results as you did.

 

Same problem here. I'm on OS X El Capitan 10.11.5

The issue is the same for Linux, neither Mac or Linux have the main Stardew Valley included in their content depots.

Notice Mac and Linux don't have the main Stardew Valley content.

You have to set SV to the platforms before we can even opt into a beta to download (you will see this if you have a non-developer account/key with SV on it on either Mac or Linux).

 

Did she buy it, or did you give her a developer key? As dev/beta keys will have access to it, as I pointed out in my post.

Could you try exiting steam completely, and restarting it. Then double-check you've got the mac_linux_test branch, before installing it? The string [mac_linux_test] should appear next to the title of the game in your library:

That's because the mac and linux content is only on the mac_linux_test branch - a branch with a password that steamdb doesn't have access to.

It still needs to be set to have Linux/Mac as a platform, which it currently is not, even with a beta. As pointed out, it's only available for Dev/Beta keys right now, not normal keys.

 

So we have to wait?

 

They will realise the issue before too long, I've told them exactly what it is

Linux/Mac don't have access to the main content/SV isn't set to allow Linux/Mac as a platform, so it throws that error.

I've heard horror stories about how confusing the Steam control panel is for this, still if you're having trouble Ethan Lee can likely help, he's the one who did the proof of concept port using FNA.

Hey all.

The depot issue is fixed... you should be able to restart your Steam client and it will start installing the Mac/Linux beta if you have switched to that beta branch.
