yeah that devlog came to a screeching halt after the first week

 

It's hard to consistently update something like this when you're only a single person. I get the feeling Ryuu was trying to put out a deadline pleasing to the fans, knowing he could just fall back to postponing later on. Poor guy should really get helpers, if you ask me.

I just wonder what their language would sound like without the translator. I also wonder what their typical vocal range is. How do the floofs speak their floofese?

 

I bet it would involve higher pitches with a very heavy emphasis on tone, and chirps. Their vocal range might be 6-10 octaves (5 is a very wide range for a human) it could be many more depending on how high they can go.
Higher pitched morse code-esque sounds is my best guess.

 

I noticed that it says Ryuujin was last seen on teh 20th of November, although no evidence shows he was there (replies, updates etc.), which leads me to believe there might be secwet pwog-wess.

 

Unfortunately, I beg to differ.

 

I'm willing to bet he either set himself under a tough regimen to work without distractions or has gotten caught up with something personal.

 

Or he is still in the United States

 

So is Avali coming back or not then?

 

Forgive me for tooting my own horn, but this is my interpretation of an avali voice/accent:

Could probably use some work, I know.

Also worth noting is that ryuujin has mentioned that the avali have multiple languages like we do.

Alternatively, they may emphasize lower frequencies. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think low sounds travel very well in dense mediums such as Avalon's atmosphere.

Every time I hear a tapped r sound I have to smile, it sounds so nice.

And that's a good point, but higher trilling sounds are nice to imagine. Also, I believe I heard that communication is usually pack based? Almost like each pack member is one core in a processor, all of them speaking at once.

 

Pursue a career in voice acting. That's adorable, if snarky.

 

On the other hand, suppose they sound like this:

I dunno about a career, but I enjoy it as a hobby; see the banner in my sig.

 

Would have imagined that they'd be more well organized, unlike the silly humans. But they are scattered and nomadic mostly, so that would be appropriate.

 

Round, yet square? Sure, their individual groups are tight-knit, but they have a lot of groups.

 

So is there an answer to my query?

 

Yes, that is what this whole discussion is about. Chances are it will be pretty different from the Avali Triage that we're used to.

 

News of a dinosaur tail found in amber has me wondering: what sort of preserved specimens can one find on Avalon? Would the icy temperatures preserve bodies, or are there ammonia-based bacteria that break things down like on Earth? And what were the avali's ancestors like? Do they (or did they) have sister species?

Come to think of it, even if there are bacteria that digest the remains of Avalon's native life forms (which there probably are), what about non-native species like, say, the malefactors?
