It would be nice if someone made a mod that could allow "plant genetics" so you could essentially cross breed two plants to get an offspring with a mix of their traits. ie. Veg Kale Season: Spring growth: 6days yeild: 1 Veg Bok Choy Season: Fall growth: 4 days yeild: 1 Example result Veg (Bok Choy 50% or Kale 50%) Season: (Spring 50% or Fall 50%) growth: 4,5 or 6 days yeild: 1 You could have any mix of the two with the chance of random genetic improvement/decline based on rng example result Veg (Bok Choy or Kale) Season: (Spring or Fall) growth: 4,5 or 6 days -1 day genetic improvement from lucky day yeild: 1 +1 Stat addition from lucky day harvest Essentially through breeding you could have super crops that grow every season in as little as 4 days if it was capped. if it wasnt capped the player could breed it down to 1 day growth with lots of luck and a higher yeild. If you have ever played the agricraft mod for Minecraft, that's essentially what i'm thinking.
I am not sure but I don't think so. Ask one of the SAMPI moders. I believe that this will need farm hand which is not releast yet.
Would it need Farmhand tho? What if an Item was created similar to the seed maker? Input two different fruit It uses luck and rng to determine between the traits whatever "crop" it came up with would just use that crops sprites and for each combo of crop/season/growthrate/yeild there could be a reserved seed/item
It could be done, but SMAPI is in no way designed to facilitate it, so it would be a ton of work on the modders part for little gain. I would suggest waiting for Farmhand, that has all the API's needed to make things like this reasonable to do.
