As an archaeologist, I really apreciate the fact of rolling boulders. Even if they could be bit bigger, when stealing artefacts.
There is no way this amount of giddiness is safe. Also, just in case someone doesn't get all the references here:
I feel like the boulders should roll a bit faster, to make it feel like they really pack a punch. Right now they seem like you could just halt them with your hand.
Excellent. Are there things that can push and launch said boulders? I am imagining a giant pinball machine.
The boulders at the top can be assumed to be limestone, which is around 175 lbs per cubic foot. They also look around 4 feet in diameter, judging by their height in relation to the player, which means 33.5 cubic feet. That means that each boulder is around 5,800 lbs. So you can try to stop it with your hand, just tell your buddies to bring a spatula to scrape you off the ground afterwards. The other boulders look like they are a little smaller and made more common 150 per cubic feet stone, but they are still over 3,000 lbs. (you're still a pancake) (please pardon my imperial system usage and napkin math) I think they are the perfect balance of realism and gameplay, since you are supposed to be able to dodge them.
Seeing all the cool, new avian traps and other items makes me hope that this mission will be full of blueprints, like the lunar base.
The most deadly trap in the 2D world: rolling things. In a 3D world we would be able to simply just step to the side.
No. These are on Nightly. Eventually, they'll appear mostly if not entirely all at once on Unstable, then Stable.
That whole hand thing was ment to be a figure of speech, but I see your point. Though I still stand by my initial idea, which was to make the bolders faster while rolling down. The size is fine.
When I saw this the first thing that came to mind was "Oh look at the crying owl... oh wait, those are boulders, and its a room...". Good work anyway, can't wait to see the merchant interface, I am sure Metadept did a good job!
