I can foresee people becoming so frustrated by traversing canyons that they, in fact, build a bridge and get over it.
Me too. I think it will be awesome to have planets that warrant road building and other infrastructure construction projects. First I need to make them look good, though!
It would be cool if some of these canyons acted like sinkholes in the sense that certain blocks, when stepped on, would trigger the sand to slide down the side and (possibly) trap the player in a deadly sand trap.
yes, this will add top gameplay. Also, can you look into floating land masses and VERY irregular terrain types. Terrain traversal could become a very important and fun part of later planets.
Would it be possible to make the sides "slippery" and put a giant tentacle monster at the bottom? :Sarlacc Pit:
I have an idea to convey a background. You know how most of the objects/control panels are kinda 3/4 view anyway? How about just trailing some art that gives the canyon some depth of field just in instances where there is a canyon. Like you're seeing a curved canyon point of view (but chopped in half). I can bust out my horrid mspaint skills if what I'm saying sounds bananas
This is why I love this community... On topic: I like having areas on planets that aren't a walk in the park. Makes the game more entertaining. Building bridges could add a bit of depth to your home plants as you move around. I like it.
