Ooh, I wonder what that red button lever does~~ It's looking pretty spiffy. Digging that lovely purple glow! So pretty.
THe background ores indeed I remember that they were actually in one of the very early versions of the game, but then they were removed for some reason.
The obligatory " Yay, and ...this is awesome, neat, keep up the good work!" emerged. I know I'm rude, I know I'm a jerk, but I can't help myself. I'm just bored with all this "update" stuff. I know what's coming, do the right thing.
Glowing ores of some sort, plus background ore? Neat. Please tell me that stuff is glowing because it's radioactive.
i definitely support background ores, its a great idea that uses the background as a place to get stuff from just like the stretch goal you guys had set up, keep up the good work i cant wait to see all this when the game is finished, its going to be so awesome.
background ores are nice and all but is that dyed armor i see dyed armor yes edit: maybe it's not dyed armor? well darn
Sorry to burst your bubble, but background ores are not the feature that subtly crept in. As Archer stated those were actually removed some time ago. The reason for this change was that it was making it far too easy to power through the mining by ignoring the ores buried away in the walls. The ore you're seeing here is a type of block. The new feature I was referring to is the ability to have blocks that cast light. It could be quite handy for modders.
"far too easy to power through the mining by ignoring the ores buried away in the walls." not understanding that mining logic there armagon, you lost me. it would be more beneficial to players to mine both the wall and the block ores then just one of them, a good way to counter that being somewhat unbalanced is to shrink the size of the veins slightly and make it possible for the background ones to spawn behind any other block while still having the same durability as a foreground block of the same type as well.
I was not personally involved in the particular discussion, but from what I understand a number of players were completely circumventing digging as a means of finding ores in favour of just trawling through the networks of caves and tearing through the progression much faster that way. I may be mistaken in my understanding of course, it was quite a long time ago.
yeah doesn't quite make sense to somehow not mine but pick up ores anyways. i do know that any ore in gravity affected material makes mining ores much MUCH faster tho, i'm thinking maybe that could be changed so that they can only spawn in solid stuff like stone and not in sand and dirt.
they are dimmer because they are in the background, like any other background placed block, basically the crystals themselves aren't an ore but are a block.
