    UPDATED FOR STARBOUND 1.05

Do you wish to learn modding, but never modded anything in your life before?

    No Problem!

This guide is a created especially for those completely new to the modding scene.

You do not need any programming experience or pixel art experience to get into starbound modding. A good 95% of starbound can be modded through JSON alone, which is a data interchange format. You would never have to touch Lua ( an actual programming language ) at all!

Modding starbound is almost as simple as filling out a form, so if you haven't already its a good time to give it a shot. But bare in mind you do need to put in some effort on your part to see things through. It may be easy but there is a degree of creativity as well as critical thinking involved.

HOW TO DOWNLOAD THE FILE TO THE DESKTOP
When you click on the download link you will be taken to a PDF viewer page. This is to allow users without a PDF reader to be able to see the file. For those who want an offline solution on the top right of the PDF Viewer page another download link will appear where you can download the file to your desktop to view.

Having a quick skim through, seems like a great resource to help modders new and old. My only gripe with it is that you said JSON stands for Javacript Oriented Notation, when it actually stands for JavaScript Object Notation. That minor error aside, it looks exceptionally well-written, great work.

Great for new modders and even if I don't do modding, I will go to this modding handbook if I ever had the feeling to mod in starbound.

Pretty basic, and pretty good. Shows you the basics of Starbound Modding. It's well indexed, so it's really handy to vanish any little doubt.

Good guide to new modders, and a good consult resource for not so new modders ;)

This is truly a gift to the community and is well written and informative. A excellent starting point for those interested in modding. Or people that need a refresher.

This guide is great, I heavily recommend it.
I found the section on coloring armor, along with the crafting stations, very helpful.

And I would like to request that at some point a section on weapons be added, for things such as projectiles and animations.
Other than that it's an extremely helpful guide to learn from and review when I can't figure something out. Thank you.

I love this. Well written, flows nicely and just explains everything you would need to know for modding in Starbound.

I will definitely be referring to this as I broaden my modding skills.

Would like to see a more detailed guide on creating an object with a custom UI :)
