Penguin Piracy (SUSPENDED DEVELOPMENT) V11.2.1

Pirates! Plunderers! Penguins! This mod adds penguin affiliated content, and much more!

  1. PenguinPiracyMod V4 - The Killer Whale Update

    ManicRykker
Hey guys, it's time for V4, and with it comes some heavy changes, improvements, and additions!

(Just as a reminder in case you missed the little status update a few days ago:

As of this update, some micro races have had their support REMOVED from the PenguinPiracyMod:

The penguin armsdealer, soldier, general, welder, bartender, pirate, and royalty micro-races.

Normal penguins, Masked penguins, and Robo Penguins are the only micro-races that survive this little wipe.

The file structure organization from the previous update will remain intact as well.)

    V4 CHANGELOG

    ADDITIONS

    - Penguins now support cosmetics to an extent: There will be penguin wearables that occupy the legs slot. A one size fits all sort of deal. We've all wanted penguin wearables, so beggars can't really be choosers when the wearable system isn't really in our favor. (For the record, I at least tried to get the head and chest slots to work right. lol)

    - Penguins now have a tiered armor progression system.

Each tier has one piece of armor, and has the total combined stats of all three pieces of a humanoid armor tier.

Since penguins are small, and fragile, heavier armors aren't as practical for them as they are for humanoid races.

Instead of focusing on a theme, and wasting resources producing a "style", penguin armors focus more on being "tactical". Each new tier has clear visual progression in your penguin's armor. Overall, all the armor has the same "look" across each tier.

They also provide benefits and buffers to help make your fragile little penguin a little less squishy.

Each new penguin armor tier requires the previous tier to be crafted. (So this means you will have to do some thinking when you reach the manipulator/accelerator/separator stage of gear, as which one you go for will permanently set your armor down one of the three paths (And if you want to craft armor in one of the other two paths, you will need to go through the progression again.)

Penguin armors are obtainable ONLY by penguinoid races. (So Robo penguins get left out of this new feature.)

(Note: I can not prevent you from wearing pieces of armor from other races in the head and chest slots... Since this is technically cheating, I personally recommend you do not bother with them. If you do decide to wear other armors with the penguin armor pieces, I will not be held responsible for how it affects your experience in the game as a penguin. If you cheat yourself, that will be your fault. Lol.)

    - Penguin npcs have been reworked.

Most penguin merchant types have been removed. Penguin Royalty is now the primary merchant type for penguins.

They wear penguin cosmetics in different conditions (Some penguin npc types only wear a certain wearable, and more generic ones pick from a few wearables.)

For their stock, they pull from the merchant pools from previous penguin merchant types. Their stock is random.

    - The cosmetic wearables seen on the removed micro-races are now sold by the penguin king. You can also pick from these wearables when you create your character now (Designated under the new "Accessory" option)!

    - Some items from Dekadrachm's Black Market Mod (The assets released version) are going to be available in the PenguinPiracyMod! (He will be added to the credits)

Some of Biggy's 'providers' have salvaged some blueprints for weapons and armor. Though they were a bit dated, they are in the process of reproducing said weapons. A new Black Market Console can be crafted at the Penguin Inventor's table after completing a quest for the penguin king (detailed in the TWEAKS section below).

Currently, only the mobius armor, mobius pistol, mobius broadsword and mobius dagger have been salvaged from the blueprints.

It also offers a couple of cosmetic wearables.

In addition to those, the console offers an exclusive B.M.C. penguin plush!

    They are obtained with diamonds.

Biggy's providers will continue looking through the blueprints, and will provide an update if they are able to salvage anything else.

(All armors and cosmetic wearables that will be offered by the console will be fitted for humanoids)

    TWEAKS

    - The nerfs to the penguin have become a bit more harsh. Without armor, your penguin now has a base health of 30. (The same health the penguin soldier enemies have in the Dreadwing mission!) The energy buff and guts buff have also been negated.

The buffs will instead be present on the new tiered armor. Equipping the first tier of armor will also bump your health back up to 50.

(If the health nerf proves to be too difficult to manage for a new player, I may provide an additional way to at least get the first tier armor in another update)

    - The way some of the mod's crafting stations and items are unlocked have changed. Many have been removed from the default blueprints. Instead, you learn how to craft those items by doing simple quests for the penguin king throughout the game:

    - In the first quest, give him 20 gold bars and he will give you blue prints that unlock the Penguin Inventor's Table for you. (By extension, he now no longer sells said blue prints in his store.. lol)

    - In the second quest, he is in need of some dubloons. Give him two dubloons, and he will give you the blueprints for the peng currency, as well as for the useful penguin branch versions of some of the outpost shops. This of course means this quest can only be completed after you beat Dreadwing.

    - In the third quest, he is in need of a special part for his laptop. The part he needs is only made by a certain penguin scientist who also specializes in weaponry. You will need to beat the Shockhopper to obtain the part to complete this quest.

Completing this quest grants you the blueprints for the Black Market Console.

    MISC

    - A new txt document has been added to the Mod overview folder as of this update.

The Mod Item ID Documentation.txt lists the item ids for objects, items, and codexes added in this mod. This is to make spawning the items a little easier in admin mode.
