Pelican Town replacement

    This is a map replacement for Pelican town to make it a little cleaner and more green. While I understand that Pelican Town is supposed to be a little run down, I wanted to do something to make it look better. The result is this, my very first SDV map. This was more of a personal project than anything, but I figured I'd share it in case someone else wanted it.

    Keep in mind, however, that I have not done any extensive testing with NPC behavior, but I did my best not to put things in the way of NPC paths. Hopefully there will be no issues, especially for NPC events. Also, I only edited the base map, not the festival/event maps. Furthermore, the flower beds do have a weird line on the left side of them. I may revise the textures later to fix that issue.

    That said, let me know of any issues you may come across, along with any cosmetic issues.

    Also, you will have to start a new game unless you want bushes in weird places. The only other way around it is to manually edit your save file. If this is the route you want to go, follow the instructions in the following spoiler.


    First off, if you don't know what you are doing, STOP! I will not be held accountable for any editing you do that will mess up your save file. That said, I can not put enough emphasis on how important it is to backup your saves file(s) before doing any hard editing of your save file. As there are no save editors out there (that I know of) that edit farm and town mapping, hard editing is the only way, and it is not recommended for anyone who is new to editing code.

    That said, proceed at your own risk, if indeed you are intent on editing your save file to make this map edit work on an existing file.

    Step 1: Go into your Stardew Valley save folder (In Windows, C:\Users\<USERNAME>\AppData\Roaming\StardewValley\Saves)

    Step 2: Go into the character folder of the save you wish to edit. BACKUP YOUR SAVE BEFORE EDITING!!!!

    Step 3: Right-click on the file with the same name as the folder you just entered, and Open with... Notepad (I would highly recommend getting Notepad++)

    Step 4: Go into your 'Edit' menu and select 'Find'. Search for this line:

    You should be directed to the very first "Bush" segment under your town's largeTerrainFeatures.

    Sep 5: Now, CAREFULLY highlight the entire <largeTerrainFeatures> segment of code, up to, and including, </largeTerrainFeatures>.

    NOTE: I personally recommend separating <largeTerrainFeatures> from the rest of the code by clicking in front of it, and hitting the 'Return' key a couple times, that way you don't lose your place (there's a lot of code).

    Step 6: Once you have highlighted the specified code, replace all of it with the code in the NEXT spoiler. After doing that, save your file, and load it in your game. Go into town, and you should no longer have any out of place bushes.

    I love it! It makes the town a whole lot nicer. The only thing that I find off about it though is that especially in the park there are bushes n such growing right smack on top of the pathways. Also, it's minor but there's a few trees that were changed from stumps that have a different coloration than the original stump. There's an example of that in one of the screenshots here. The park screenshot I think. Other than that though this is really great, and I appreciate the time put in!

      I greatly appreciate the feedback. I will be sure to fix the oak stumps in the next update. I can be a bit color blind at times, so I didn't really notice it when I first did the map. :p

      As for the bushes, were you on a new game or loading a save? If you are using a previous save, please read through the Overview, as it explains the issue. You can either follow the steps in the overview to get rid of the bushes, or you can upload a link to your save and I can make the revisions myself for your convenience.
