I don't get hyped for any reason; Christmas even less so.

What if FTL drives were developed and worked?

They wouldn't be very useful unless we had effective spacecraft to attach them to, and those spacecraft would be no good unless we have a good way to get them into space. I might feel excited about a space elevator, but that isn't 'hyped'.
