Deep within a secure compound, in a poorly lit room, a large group each in front of their own computers can be seen, some franticly typing on keyboards others starting nervously at a progress bar on a large monitor in the middle of the room, labeled 'Project Atomic Omicron', all the men and women present are sweating with worry and concentration.
Suddenly all the monitors in the room go black and the lights flicker and for a moment overwhelming tension fills the room. Then the monitor in the center turns back on, just two words written on its otherwise black screen, "Operation Successful".
After a moment of disbelief, cheers erupt from the men, "We did it!"
Amongst the incredible uproar and celebration, a single intern glances up at the large display screen which scrolls through the results of the project. He notices a difference between the number of casualties and population, squinting at the missing 4 casualties.
He recounts the survivors and wounded counts, and turns away under the assumption that the numbers are wrong, and turns away as the screen shuts off and displays an error, nothing new.
The programming has been wrong, but it was nothing to do with the numbers, as the satellite scanner was programmed to filter out just Humans, to ensure that radioactive-resistant creatures wouldn't interfere with the scanning. Four beings remain in the ghost town, but nothing Human remains.
