Why is USCM hostile?

Well, the prisoners ARE drysap-crazed, so it's not so off that they're chaotic evil by this point.

@Buttlord: If you follow that out then you get attacked in regular towns and can only trade peacefully with your race.

I'm fine with dungeon dwellers being hostile by default and city dwellers going hostile based on actions only. It makes sense that any one of any race holed up in a remote lab, temple zealots, guys living behind razor wire and the like would be hostile SOBs and town folks might distrust the other races, but being the kind of people that set up shops and such they start out friendly.

 

Honestly, by default that'd be a-ok with me. Given a system where you were informed of a planet's inhabitants etc beforehand, and a way to appease the locals, that'd be 100% fine.

 

BECAUSE THEY'RE CUTE HAVE YOU EVER SEEN BULLDOG PUPPIES JESUS CHRIST.

I grant you that they have a multitude of health problems but THEY'RE CUTE AND NICE DOGS OK.

It would be more interesting if each race had advantages/disadvantages. Each race should have default relationships with the other races and maybe slightly different play styles such as weapon and food preferances.

Yeah, I can understand them attacking on sight, although, in the final game, the endgame quest should allow you to take control of the USCM as its Supreme Commander, regroup its forces on Mars, and launch an attack to reclaim Earth from the Tentacle Beast, ending with a epic battle inside the Earth's core to kill the beast.
