Hello people, I've been browsing around in the forums in the mods/races tab hoping to find a red panda race. you know , these things : http://www.tehcute.com/pics/201107/Red-panda.jpg I wish i was good enough in modding to make this myself , but sadly I’m not , that's why i am asking someone to help create the red panda race that one day will rule the galaxy ! Further info on the red panda race as seen in the race question template : -Name: Redcoats [ this is a temporary name since i could not think of a good one yet. ] -History: The Redcoats are a proud race focused on preserving nature and the exploration of new things. They live in small tree villages and are short of size. coming from a far reach of space in a fairly undeveloped world the Redcoats don’t have fancy weaponry , in the style of the Florans and the Glitch these small creatures hunt with special reserve bow's and short swords made out of a special kind of black bamboo only found on their home world, extremely durable and strong these weapons have a deadly force ( and if you ever get hungry you can just eat it ) thanks to the small size of Redcoats these weapons would be considered a knife or dagger for anything human sized. When a humanoid spaceship crashed on their planet the Redcoats began thinking of bigger ambitions , ruling galaxies !They set up their own little space program and with various kinds of metal and their special bamboo they eventually got the spaceship working again and successfully launched it into orbit with enough fuel to make a few interstellar jumps. In the early days of their space travel the Redcoats where space pirates that would hunt down other ships to make a small fleet, traveling in groups to new systems they wouldn’t be attacked just because they were in such big numbers. Eventually some members of the fleet would go off on their own and set their own travels to further reaches of space. -Technological Advancement: The Redcoats are somewhere between the florans and the glitch , more hanging to the Medieval side of the spectrum but with less knowledge about space and technology. since the redcoats don’t have much technological knowledge they haven't developed special weapons that require a lot of technology, their bows and swords are the only things they need. Redcoats are great traders -The “Age” System: Caveman - No real technology use sticks, wood, fire and stone -Hostility: Redcoats don’t immediately engage into combat but if they are provoked they will try and swarm the enemy. Born tradesman the redcoats are a very trustworthy race but might trick the player into paying a little bit more for certain items. -Historical/Defining/Notable moments: For now I do not have any notable moments yet , but I might come up with some. Redcoats don’t have hairstyles like all the other races and the gender difference is just made by a coloured flower close to one of the ears. ( Females have the flower , Males don’t ) Since the redcoats are a smaller race they are half a head smaller than humans. *sidenote : One pice of armor I’d love to make whould be a pair of goggles for redcoats
Honestly, based on this picture alone, I'd prefer if they were more like Space Communists. It even works, since they're red pandas after all. Though a lot of what you've suggested just doesn't work, like them being smaller. It creates a lot of armour and balance problems.
Well it was just kind of an idea i had at that moment , but yeah with that picture they look could be space communists. and i guess it does yeah , Well its because red panda's are smaller by nature that is why i wanted to make them a bit smalelr without really thinking of the game problems , but them being the same height as other races whuldn't be tomuch of a problem.
Red Pandas. I have so many ideas. so... where to start. possibly you could give them a ship that is a Fly? (Red Pandas eat flies, and flies fly so... nyeh.) and then they are Chinese. so give them Chinese outfits? its cute They have a hating to the Floran, Blah blah blah, Also. Give them a crossbow in their ship. instead of a sword. Like a Crossbow that shoots Bamboo Darts? Anyways. im running out of ideas. maybe you could use some of these suggestions?
I kinda don't like this idea. Mostly because its just kinda weird to have a little cute animal as a starbound character, having full grown legs and arms, especially a red panda. It doesn't go well. fan art: Can I get my paycheck now?
