When I was playing as a floran, I put a helmet on. I liked my floran look without it, but if i took it off, i'd lose armor. There should be an option to look like you're not wearing anything. When there is nothing in the vanity slot, it will act like a checkbox. You can click on it, and an x will appear. An x means that you want your armor to appear on your character. Leaving it blank means you want your character to wear nothing in that slot as vanity.
I think that it should be a craftable item, like an invisible dye or something, or maybe a craftable machine that can chance the color of itens or make them transparent
Ragnarok Online 2 had an option like this (for head only though), and I think more games should follow the example, Starbound included
+1. I want to be able to run around as a naked birdie killing everything I see and I can't do that because that makes me squishy and weak.
+1 from me as well. Having something you can craft, like a head band to put in the vanity slot would help as well.
Updated my mod a bit because of boredom (waiting for the update...) Download (Mega) Installation manual: -Download the Rar package -Unrar it with any supported -Open the folder "InvisibleArmor" -Copy and paste the folder "assets" into your Starbound folder located here (depending on your Steam installation directory): C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Starbound -Replace everything when asked -Start the game as usual -Create a new character (necessary to optain the new recipes) -Finish the first Quest and build a Spinning Wheel Changelog: Update #4 -Fixed for "Frustrated Koala" Update #3 -Fixed for "Annoyed Koala" Update #2 -Added Installation manual Update #1 -Changed icons -Fixed textures (now shows preview for head, the rest is bugged game wise) -Renamed them to "Bare" since it sounds more "appropiate" -Fixed recipe for head and pants, head now needs 2 instead of 3 and pants need 3 instead of 2 fabric Will try to get some "special" attention this way since this mod adds the ability and would be ready to be fully implemented into the stock game.
This should be a vanity item. Many games do this. Invisible dye in Diablo 3, familiar clothes in Terraria, etc.
So much this. My character has awesome hair, but I have to wear fugly glasses in my vanity slot to see it >.>
