    Anytime I use any melee weapon, the game will immediately crash as the animation is about to begin. Whenever an NPC uses a melee weapon, the game does not crash but everything other then the player on the planet freezes, forcing me to return to the ship. Almost the same as Kyon's post, almost exactly what happens when it freezes except that it just makes every creature freeze and that it doesnt warp.

    Well, I got a bit further after today's update. I made a character! I then clicked on said character and.... eventually the program just quit with a double exception. The log had this to say:

    Loading the program again results in the same error, but instead after the splash screen. Player folder is empty though Universe folder had some content. Deleting Universe and then relaunching results in:

    And other such errors. After another razing of the game and redownload, I still can't get past the splash screen. Not sure why I was able to make it to character creation originally and then have it begin failing. Here's the last log:

    Again. Windows XP. And please don't criticize my choice of OS, it's supposed to be supported so leave it at that guys...

    That's not a bug, actually. After a certain amount of questing you'll actually get one from the penguin, allowing you to use Penguin Bay.

    3? (Crashes game, can't imagine it damaging my computer)

    Playing on a multiplayer server, I go to a desert planet. Immediately to the left, I can hear an Apex obstacle course. However, if I approach it the game crashes out immediately. Curiously, another played on the server was able to approach it and explore it without any problems. Crash log below.

    Launcher runs, but both client and server are crashing on OS X if any mods are installed. For my example, I start with the ODB2CCM_Black and kineptic mods installed. The former is all it takes to crash the client after the Chucklefish logo, but it takes the addition of a race mod to make the server crash.

    EDIT: Disregard me, I'm trying to use old mods with a new release.

    umm..when i tried to open starbound it said

    I've gotten hit with the desert planet bug as well. I'll try to remember to load it up when it's not 4:40am and get a log but...

    Every time i try to take my ship to the desert planet at the beginning of the game, the travel animation plays forever, and i never arrive. This then causes the game to crash immediately on loading that character without completely exiting the game (including a hosted server for friends even if encountering the bug in single player). After reopening the game, it loads to the starter planet.

    I thought it might be that character, so i ditched all my important items onto a friend, and made a new character, gathered my things, proceeded through the quests, and it did it again. For reference, my friend did not experience this.

    NPC shop problem.
    If I select a weapon in a NPC shop, the data of the weapon is shown on the right side of the Screen.
    But if I select another weapon and then switch back to the previous one I see different stats/data compared to the previous try.
    You can do this very often and sometimes this phenomenon repeats (you get to see previous weapons again).

    libSDL-1.2.so.0 is not packaged with the game. It should be.

    The game doesn't start, with the simple error (only on the command line) :
    ./starbound: error while loading shared libraries: libSDL-1.2.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

    On ubuntu 14.04 64bit, installing the package libsdl1.2debian allows the game to run.

    I experience the same problem. Clicking on any of the weapons results in a different weapon from what is shown on the left side of the window, and it gets switched with something else every time you un- and reselect it. Also, when you buy the selected weapon it gets switched again and you end up with something you didn't agree to buy.

    It seems that the same mistake can be recognized if you accept the mission "Butcher, Baker, Window Maker"
    Go to your quest journal and select the mission. In the reward window you should get a sword. But it seems that there is a large amount of swords racing along this window like a SLOT MACHINE

    • Client crash on radiation planets(possibly due to minibiome). Does not affect the 64-Bit Experimental client.
    • This planet specifically (-946464348:-327659960:90981878:5:3 "Epsilon Omega Vir 50 III b") when walking right from the spawn client crashes upon close proximity to the flower biome. Doesn't crash if you don't leave the spawn area. Also: see (Same System Epsilon Omega Vir 50 IV a)

    Issue: "Beam Home" option sometimes warps into another character's homeworld.
    Addition: It appears to have moved an entire spaceship there, not just the player character.

    seems to be a multiplayer bug on the weapons facility level when me and my mates all jump down to fight the mech boss the game crashes the boss seems to work fine in singleplayer mode though

    • When jumping into the arena to fight the penguin mech (Weapons Testing Facility) in multiplayer the game client crashes. Specifically once you drop through the trap door to fight the penguin mech, some time during or shortly after landing the fall our games crash.
    • My friend and I were simply progressing through the missions, we also haven't tested this in singleplayer.
    This is the error we get when our games crash:

    That is a level 4 bug. As I heard, it completely stops character's progression, forcing to create a new character.
    I'll ask around about this bug. I don't think many players get this bug too.

    Weeeeeird. If that happened to everyone, the forum would be full of new threads, featuring this exact bug. I'll put it into the "unknown" tab, we'll take a look at it later.
    Did you talk to the devs? Did they say anything? I can't help you here, sorry. But I truly think that it must be a problem with your OS.

    Does this happen in the single player?
    That's because the prize is a random weapon.

    Very minor bug, low priority

    It is possible to hit the very edge of an enemy's hitbox, which displays damage and on hit effects, but does not actually make contact with the enemy.
