Pretty much this. You can go from midi to ABC easily, but you can't get from mp3 to midi or mp3 to abc. mp3 is a real recording of music, while ABC and midi are basically sheet music the computer interprets and plays.

To be a bit more specific Mp3 is the compressed format of encoded music. OOG is the lossless format of encoded music Midi is the raw format with event cues. Mp3 to midi converters simply guess the event cues.
I disagree , there is a way too convert mp3 to midi but there is a very complicated way and is not worth the time.
