Glitch Inquistors?

So in a glitch society, one of the worst crimes is becoming self aware, like you've been accused of witchcraft or some deep heretical stuff. Given how they're in a medieval society, would some societies have Glitch Inqusitors? ones who would be in charge of locating Outcast activity, capturing them and either re-purposing/terminating them? And would they have fancy tall hats? Would they be coming in black ships and repeatably poke other glitch with sticks until they react? a sign of self awareness?!?!?

and will we be able to see Glitch jousting matches?

 

My understanding is that no, there isn't a parallel in Glitch society for the inquisitors that arose during the European witch trials. As mentioned in the codex entry "A Note on Glitch Outcasts", the Glitch don't directly seek out and destroy individuals. Instead, they choose to exile them once they've been identified.

However, it should be mentioned that this is contradicted somewhat by the entry, "The Ferrying", in which an outcast leader describes helping self-aware Glitch escape the city. It's not clear if this is an accidental oversight on the part of the devs, or if one (or both) sources are incorrect. Hiraki doesn't seem like the most reliable journalist, after all.

 

It could be that one is the "official line", and the other is what's really practiced.

In addition, is the glitch power structure centralized? The books suggest no. This may open the door to multiple interpretations of the threat of self awareness.

Also What's not to say that one glitch king became super paranoid (as all rulers become...) and is worried if ALL his subjects become capable of thought... they they would question the point of a monarchy
