Notice About Reporting Duplicate Threads

Hello everyone,

I'd like to request that if you find a duplicate thread, you first ask yourself a few questions before reporting it:

• Is the thread asking the exact same thing/about the exact same topic as many others, or are there enough differences to add something new to the conversation?
• Is the other thread very old (read: last post dated around 6 months ago or more)?
• Can you link to a specific example that proves it's a duplicate?

If the answer to these questions is "the second one", "yes", or "no", respectively to each question, then you're best not sending a report. While duplicate threads can clog up a forum, sometimes a new thread is welcomed or even requested. The dupe rule is more in place to prevent an entire page being full of the same issue, than to control or otherwise direct flow of the forum.
