A new look at the Hylotl/Floran conflict: Do Hylotl eat Florans?

I'm not completely sure what to think about this... It's just an idea, for now, I guess.

So, there is this big conflict between Florans and Hlylotl, but noboy seems to know how it started. If you ask me, the Hylotl would do anything to stop an conflict with any other specie- not even a war yet. The floran part doesn't suprise me tough. But common, the Hylotl, the pacifist that they are, the're even vegetarians.

Wait...

Vegetarians.
Florans.

 

For a pacifist species, they sure are harsh against Florans...though I wouldn't think they'd stoop as low as to resort to cannibalism, even towards Florans.

 

... That's a very good point... But I think the florans might be too sentient for the hyotls to think about eating them.
Not sure, though.

 

A vegetarian would not eat another sentient being, regardless.

I think there's a seedy underbelly to all this. Hylotl eat florans the same way japanese eat shark fin soup- They know its bad but its a delicacy so they do it anyway in secret. Florans are used to being the ones doing the eating.

I bet those damned Hylotl have breeding pens for florans, where they force them to make more cocoons to keep up with their ever growing demand for Florans.

Florans living in cages their whole lives- Sentient cocoon-kin waiting for the culling blade that transforms them from a thinking, feeling, sentient being into an entree for some vile fish spawn who doesn't deserve the air it wastes with its existence.

It disgusts me.

They all disgust me.

 

Yeah, a while ago- can't recall the source- I even heard about some NPCs talking about they knowing "the dirty secret of the hylotl", or something along those lines.

They still own florans tough.

 

Hmm, perhaps the conflict is all because of ideas? I mean, Hyotls are Pacifists, florans are known to be agressive.... Soooo idk. Still, great point there.

Eating other species is NOT cannibalism...

 

Florans eat Hylotl's. Not the other way around.

Technically true, but the Floran, and every other species, are really humanoid. They walk on two legs, are sentinent, and speak English.

 

Hssss, Floran eat food, Floran not eaten by food.

 

I think we're all missing one vital point here.


No matter who you are, Hylotl are delicious with rice and gravy.

Not technically, it is true unless fish people are plant people, it's not cannibalism at any sense. (same as we'd eat dolfins or bugs really)

 

My current character is a Hylotl (I switch race every wipe, because wynaut) and I did notice something in the lore books saying something about the Florans destroying the Hylotl home planet, or something like that.

So yeah, you could say that would be a sufficient reason for the Hylotl to hate their guts.

 

So, now we consider eating biped-sentient-english-speaking beings as cannibalism. That seem fine to me.
I'm sure french people go well with onions.

Or maybe we need another word like "sapiophagia" or something like that.

Those florans are savages. Period
