One of the huge reasons why that probably wont happen for a very long time is currency is one of the things that makes countries unique, and individual. Countries for the most part love their individuality and to have a universal currency would lower that. Basically the world has too much pride to do that, save some countries in Europe that use the Euro to compete with the american dollar.
