Outdated Full Custom Signs (Deprecated) 1.3.1 (Upbeat Giraffe)

Make your own custom signs! Animated! Wired! Now with full RGBA support and a snazzy interface!

  1. Wellbott
Well, now that there's a vanilla version, the mod itself is pretty much deprecated. See you in the outpost~

Need some labels for your chests? Now you can craft an indefinite number of unique, pixel-by-pixel customized and animated 4x1 signs!

Simply navigate your way to a Metalworking Station or Tabula Rasa and craft the EASEL. Plonk it down and interact...

Whoa, Gfycat, you did not do a kindness to that color picker. I promise it doesn't look like that.

Anyways, you can do all sorts of cool stuff. It has tool-tips now, so I don't need to get into too many details, but here's an overview:

    • Printed signs don't just drop to the ground anymore. Now they go straight into the cabinet on the end, which is its own container.
    • The sign frames are intelligent, and will accommodate adjacent signs and objects/foreground tiles.
    • Signs can be wired! They function as switches or relays, and are given a dedicated "off" frame.
    • They can be containers!
    • Store up to 7 signs as templates, that can be loaded and edited freely. These are machine-specific, and even saved if you break and move your EASEL.
    • Copy existing signs into the editor! Place a sign in the "Input" slot of the EASEL Cabinet and the machine will read it like a stored template.
Resource use has been dramatically lowered, but filling a screen with these is still going to cost some fps. Don't get too crazy...
...but you can get a little crazy now.

Especially with static signs - with one or, for a wired sign, two frames - resource usage should be entirely negligible, no more than any other scripted object.

I LOVE this mod. (I do a lot of pixel art and building, but I've never had the decorations I've needed. :/) Just one question: is there a place it stores the pixel art as .pngs or .gifs? (if so, I have a new pixel editor...)

The signs store as arrays of ones and zeroes... all in the game save file somewhere. I tried to make the editor function as much like paint as I could.

Works as promised - very nicely done! My game get's hurt by the lag though, from using frames - but all in all very useful!
