Well, I wake up here...wow lots of replies, Ok well I think its a good thing no one's talked about your character, I personally think you are good besides the small suggestion of fixing up the History other then that I think your ok...
Edit: Applicants should be viewed over by Ryik soon(Maybe) or by Mattie when he wakes up and stuff, looking for to rping wif everyone.

  3. Ryik

    Ryik Scruffy Nerf-Herder

You can write in any tense you want (except future, (trust me, just don't) unless it is a player interaction and you're avoiding powerplaying) and any person you want. (Take note that writing outside of 3rd person requires character headings and 3rd person is recommended besides)
Main forms of villainy on Derika is petty thuggery, joining the church of Lesua, joining the ETG, or getting involved in organized crime. You could also make a living fighting villainy with extreme prejudice, ie crooked cop.

Assuming the grammatical trainwreck that is your ability meant that he can use objects as effective weapons, then yeah, sure. Accepted.

Oh good, you gave up on this app. Now I don't have decide whether it's overpowered or not.
The history raises many questions, but as all of them are irrelevant, accepted.
Gonna need details. In other words, he can only control weak-minded people who are also weak physically? Can I get a willpower scale going on here? Would the average person be resistant to it, does it take some extraordinary person/highly motivated person to break out, what?
There's a notable amount of errors in your app, notably the bulletproof fur and reasonable claw sizes of wolves. To tear intestines out with claws with ease, it would take much longer claws than standard wolf claws and I assume he still feels the force of bullets hitting him. (which would sting) There's also some continuity errors in your history.

    But yeah accepted.

The wiki... Idk. People stopped working on it and thus it lists several characters incorrectly. If anyone wants to get on that, be my guest.

His bans can be broken mind you. Banning death also doesn't stop him from sustaining damage, and banning damage would have to be very specific to have any effect. The character that could destroy anything was nerfed. The one that could ban things is really poor in any sort of offense in combat, while the one who could destroy things was held down so thoroughly by the plot that he literally never used it once outside of his history. Now, his ability is impractical for direct fighting in a battle. But yes, they are both very op.
Yes, much better. My primary concern with your last character was that it was an instadeath character.
Instadeath characters, while they have ways on not being overpowered, are in general very hard to work into the RP. I mean, how would you ever use the ability against any other PC? You wouldn't, and if you did, it would be anticlimactic. If you used it against mooks, it wouldn't be very much fun either. Plus, a hazmat suit on at all times isn't very fun and obstructs interactions.
Not saying he couldn't be done, but it would be much more difficult to get any meaningful RP with him

    Oberst sounds okay. Accepted.
    100 meters/second=223 miles/hour
the character change thing is still open, so you could take his advice if you wanted to.

I think your ability is underpowered. Not that you should feel the need to change it. Underpowered characters are what they are and can be just as interesting as all the others.

I have a rough character list of mine right here, for anyone who wants to peruse:
Take note that my characters are grade-A bad examples for your characters. You see, I also manage the NPC characters, and they have since blended in with my normal characters, so it's hard to tell the difference in many cases. ("I made this guy. He doesn't do much, but he has too much uniqueness and PC interactions for a NPC. What is he?" Characters originally being one or the other often started being the one they weren't and frankly it doesn't even matter anymore) Not mentioning NPC character standards, (What were references to other things as NPCs were ripoffs as PCs) the plot (basically the established world of this RP) demanded overpowered things sometimes. This includes the Queen of Brinkhaven, Rachael, and the 5 faction leaders, among other things.

As you may be able to tell, many of them have changed over time.

When I originally typed out their histories, some of them were really long. These are shorter, so some details might have been missed.

On an unrelated note, I just realized the IC OP is missing the optional "theme" section on the application.
Not having one is just fine of course. If done well, it can tell a lot about your character without using any words at all, but still, I suppose it's for the better. It prevents anyone from giving their characters a theme they frankly don't deserve because it's a song they like. Especially the kind with words. Especially the kind that can be heard on the radio.

    S
Name: "Kourin". To the best of his memory, Kourin is the closest thing to an established name he ever had, and even then never refers to himself by it, though may give it out if asked. His general inner thoughts simply refer to himself as S.

Appearance: Depends entirely upon the viewer, going as far as to appear a different gender in some cases. Clothing, face, physique, age, everything changes in the eye of the beholder, but generally keeps a thinner, 'young adult'-esque appearance. Consistently maintains a yellow color scheme.

    Ability: Manipulation of the subconscious.

Weakness/Limitation: Has a very poor memory, to the point of frequent, random amnesia. Tends to remember facts and abilities rather than names and situations.

Personality: His personality is heavily influenced by the subconscious of those around him. Rather intelligent, but fickle and spontaneous most of the time. Manipulative enough to bend most of whatever he does around in his favor sooner or later.

History: He can’t remember anything besides transient bits with no purpose or significance.

    Theme:

    Saiph

    Name: Forgotten. Spoiler warning
It’s Saiph. Everyone forgot his previous last name, including himself, but the post-adoption one is Dorado.

Age: 495 (Biologically, 17. Stopped aging because of Orion’s influence.)

    Gender: ♂

    Appearance: [IMG]

Ability: Resonates his wings to "scan" a target. Said target is analyzed on a fundamental and metaphysical level. When scanning is complete, (the time it takes varies by what he targets, the size, material, and if it’s moving or alive. It’s impractical to use on the opponent in actual combat) he produces an orb from the target. When the orb is destroyed, the target is instantaneously destroyed, vaporizing the entirety of the target into inert stardust without exception.

Was a lot stronger when it first awakened (before the 488 years of disuse) and would be able to scan objects instantly. This mostly pertains to his history though*

Weakness/Limitation: His wings are incredibly vulnerable. Interrupting the scanning process (ie by touching them) can leave him dizzy, disoriented, and unable to use his ability. Holding his wings in bad position can cause immense pain.

Personality: Has a medical history with psychotic rage (once destroyed a fully inhabited island) and has never received any form of treatment. Still yet, he has since attained a firm grip on his sanity. Overall, he's rather quiet and collected, but slightly hates to be. As such he tends to do things on whims. Immensely curious.

History: 488 years ago, He witnessed his adoptive mother supposedly die. It was the catalyst for his abilities to awaken and he went on a rampage, destroying the entirety of the highly advanced (Considering the time period) island society he lived in and the island itself. In an attempt to stop the chaos, (albeit too late) his adoptive mother’s fiance binded him using his gift. Over the course of time, they moved to a new land they found and great work went into building an underground mansion to house the two in ideally permanent solitude. This solitude was eventually interrupted and he was freed due to an irrelevant incident. He blindly stumbled through the world that left him behind. With a great deal of restraint, both self-imposed and put upon him by the same man who binded him, he was free to experience everything he had missed out on. He didn’t mind his restrictions. He understood, and was even scared of his potential for destruction, but eventually got over it and thought it all stifling. While he technically isn’t binded any longer, he still has an aversion to using his abilities in general. His adoptive mother was Rigel and her fiance was Orion. He still thinks of them as his parents.

    Theme:

    Orion

    Name: Orion Sirius

Age: 515 (Biologically, 27. Stopped aging because of his ability.)

    Gender: ♂

    Appearance: [IMG]

Ability: Can restrict/ban/forbid anything and everything, within his limitations. Those affected are unable to do that which was banned.

Weakness/Limitation: Cannot restrict relative or abstract things such as winning, losing, beauty, emotions, etc. The restriction often must be precise to have the intended effect. His restrictions must be put into words. Each restriction must also separately specify who the restriction affects and how long the restriction lasts, though there is no upward limit to how much he can set a restriction for. Each restriction puts a toll on his energy/concentration corresponding to the amount of people he affects and the amount of willpower to the contrary of that restriction. If enough willpower is put against it, it is possible to break the restriction entirely, basically abolishing the rule. Once abolished, it cannot be re-established for an amount of time corresponding to how much overall effort was put against it and how large its scale was. This can range from a day to years or even decades. Through decades of practice, he has quite the high upper limit for restriction.

Personality: Possesses a profound sense of responsibility shaken only by his overwhelming sense of loneliness. A bit of a stiff, stress-prone person. Not very outgoing. Usually prefers to keep to himself.

Has had 488 years to perfect his musical ability. He is a virtuoso unlike any other. Primarily plays piano and violin.

History: Once, long ago, he met a woman and the two fell hopelessly in love. They were both ridiculously wealthy and the world was their oyster. The woman was nothing short of perfect in his eyes. They lived on an island far from the rest of the world, (near Derika actually) which was decades ahead of the rest of the world. (publically available electricity and primitive firearms for example) Soon enough they were engaged and were to be wed soon. Of course, this is the part of the story where everything goes horribly wrong. The woman was a foster mother for a boy named Saiph. Orion never remembered his name, and still hasn't. Point is, something or someone hurt the woman, and when the boy came upon her bleeding into the carpet, his abilities as a gifted awakened and he did not handle them well. Eventually every single person on the island country they lived on except for Orion (and Rigel, they would later find out) died and the entire island was literally destroyed so that nothing remains. Not even debris. The entire island and everything on it was literally reduced to stardust. There isn't so much as an indent on the ocean floor anymore.

During the chaos, he was able to see his betrothed one last time. Her “dying” wish was for him to take care of her adoptive son. And so, using his abilities, he restricted Saiph into submission, succeeding just as the island was being finished off. Using his ability to ban the ocean from shifting underneath his feet, he carried the boy to a nearby island, completely uninhabited. He used all the riches he could bring with him to build an underground mansion (an undertaking spanning quite a while) and has lived there in solitude with the boy ever since. Because of the nature of the boy's ability, the restrictions were excessively specific, binding almost all of his movements for the last 488 years. (he could still see and blink for example) Using restrictions to prevent aging, death, decay, atrophy, sickness, starvation, etc. he lived with Saiph in the underground mansion for hundreds of years. Since he couldn’t figure out how Saiph's ability worked, he wasn’t sure how to restrict it and was unwilling to risk it.

Through an unrelated incident, Orion was incapacitated by force and Saiph’s restrictions were lifted. Initially terrified of the prospect of Saiph being freed, he was surprised to find that Saiph didn’t bear him any ill will.

He’s since found out Rigel is still alive (thanks to a sentimental restriction he put in place and never removed…) but has never been able to talk to her due to only ever seeing her in passing. It has reached the point where he avoids her out of nervousness.

After the Bishamonten incident, Rachael wanted to step down from her position as queen. As Orion is technically the rightful owner of the entirety of Derika, he feared he would be thrust into the position of king. Instead, he struck a bargain with Rachael to be her “vice-king” [sic] if Rachael wouldn’t quit.

    Theme:

    Rigel

    Name: Rigel Dorado

Age: 513 (Biologically, 25. Stopped aging because of Orion’s influence.)

    Gender: ♀

    Appearance:[IMG]

Ability: The ability to create anything and everything (out of thin air)

Weakness/Limitation: Her ability is done in a sort of command-prompt fashion; she must decide what she wants and she will receive an item roughly meeting the criteria. The problem however lies in the discretion of the objects she receives. A great amount of them fail to resemble anything on Earth, much less what she had in mind. Usage of such items are often complicated and difficult, if possible at all, albeit usually outclassing their standard counterparts if indeed used effectively. (But probably not as practical) Theoretically she could create anything up to an entirely new universe, but the discretion of the items received and both the ramifications and danger of such an action has prevented her from trying. Creating objects exhausts her to extents varying depending on the object created. The 'cost' of items are not linear, but she wouldn’t be able to create a new universe if she tried.

Personality: Outgoing. Confident, capable of getting anything she sets her mind to done. Has a tendency to boss people around when it's good for them. She is a poet, politician, scholar, teacher, composer, musician, genius, psychologist, philosopher, astrologer, archer, fencer, detective, advisor, equestrian, zoologist, botanist, mathematician, nuclear physicist, philanthropist, therapist badass. Can be a bit childish.

History: (Read the histories of Orion and perhaps Saiph) Shanked by a robber 488 years ago, but just plain didn’t die. Despite the pain, the blood loss, and the following disappearance of the ground beneath her, she didn’t drown. Confused, she really had no choice try to try to swim to land. Moving in the opposite direction Orion went in, she ended up in Japan. She went on to Europe, settling there. With the world around her much less advanced than what she was used to, she didn’t have much to aid her confusion. All she could do was travel the world alone and confused. Even if she found someone to love, they would merely grow old and die, and her gift wasn’t something she could simply show off in this world with so many resistant to change. Years past, she traveled the globe, and still yet she never found out what happened that day or where her fiance went.

But she did make a friend.

Dubbed Rachael, they were fast friends. Rachael had a special gift unlike any other, and with such a weighty responsibility, she delivered passive guidance when she really needed it. (Hilariously so) It was Rachael that bought Rigel to Brinkhaven, mostly to serve witness to the utopia she had created. Gifted were everywhere, and it was more common for one to be than not. Deciding to stay, she got an apartment in Brinkhaven, unique with a touch of Rigel’s ability. Since becoming Rachael’s advisor and getting a(nother) job as a therapist, she is among the most qualified to give advice in the world.

Which isn’t to say that her advice is perfect. Still, she is simply the best therapist there is.

    Valen

    Name: Valen

    Age: 38 (Appears much younger)

    Gender: ♂

    Appearance:[IMG]

Ability: Invincible; Invulnerable; at any point immune to all forms of damage. Blades would be unable to cut him, fire wouldn't burn him, etc. Accordingly does not age properly, technically rendering him virtually immortal

Weakness/Limitation: Still feels pain, (Albeit has worked up a minor tolerance to it) including the pain he would suffer from things like acid. (It will hurt him even if it doesn't pierce the skin; it just won’t be lasting like the pain from a wound would) and is still essentially a human regarding a lot of things. If he was crushed by something large, he would stay there until something lifted it off him.

Personality: An easy-going guy without a large sense of responsibility. Not tied down by morals much, but would refuse to personally participate in what he believed to be significant wrong-doing.

History: Employee of the ETG and technically a synth, (it’s possible he isn’t one anymore) he dealt with captured gifted assessment and meat shielding more than anything. He doesn’t really like his job, but the salary and benefits are just plain ridiculous.

    So ridiculous.

    My god.

He stopped working for them when his friend Aaron lost a chess game to “Kourin” and ended up aiding their escape and annihilation of the place. The ETG don’t know that, and Valen has been living in the physical faction ever since.

    Theme: http://youtu.be/wSHabIYpKdE

    Miina

    Name: Miina Jackals

    Age: 16

    Gender: ♀

Appearance: Most like this, clothing with a Sailor Moon motif and the orange hair in a hairstyle like this.

Ability: Can create and manipulate "stars"- flat and shaped like stars, they aren't very special and make subpar projectiles. When 5 align, they can create a portal into a dimension where Miina is literally the goddess. She is capable of removing things from her dimension, which quickly fade away into nothingness.

Weakness/Limitation: Anything she pulls out of her portals vanish after around half a dozen seconds. The stars she creates are fragile and can be broken with relative ease, somewhat like glass. Miina must return to the same portal she opened. If it had been destroyed, a new one would form in the exact same place when she exits her dimension.

Personality: Princess-like. Spoiled, stubborn, demanding, and petulant.

Also lonely, pessimistic, remorseful and self-damning.

History: Daughter of quite possibly the richest known non-gifted human in the world, she was thrown out of a plane when it was found out she was gifted. Surviving the fall unharmed thanks to her ability, after a short queen-of-the-tigers escapade and a following captured-by-ETG escapade, she reached Brinkhaven (with the several other escaped ETG prisoners) and has been living in the dimensional faction ever since.

    Shiki

    Name: Shiki Hanekoma

Age: Really, really, really old. Except also a teenager. Really, her age is an ongoing mystery.

    Gender: ♀

    Appearance:

Gift: Able to definitively determine the nature of an offender a person (heavily influenced by their current state, but also affected by their overall state) as either "Black" or "White". This is based upon the persons morals and violation henceforth. This does not mean that one without a sense of morals will not trigger her ability, nor does it mean people with more morals trigger her ability more severely. Rather, if the trigger is someone who doesn't realize what they've done is "wrong" or otherwise unwanted, then they do not trigger her ability. If the trigger is someone who thinks they are doing right but knows people justifiably dislike what they are doing, then it can trigger her ability. The grayer the morals are, the weaker "black" or "white" she casts them as, thus reducing her abilities.

If the offender person is "black", she gains power equivalent to the severity of their crimes, misdeeds, etc. which she is capable of wielding in a variety of ways. With weaker strength comes less applications. Applications vary, usually with an eye to irony, such as manipulation of water against someone who drowned his wife.

If the offender person is "white", she gains the ability to bolster a target equivalent to the significance of their behavior in a variety of ways, essentially imparting the abilities she would get if she found the action black. (albeit often in radically different ways.) Behaves in odd manners if used on herself, but almost always has some sort of irony to it.

    Finally, her 'trump card':

If Shiki finds an person as "black", she is capable of initiating a ritual in which she summons a clone of the target from a mirror. When summoned, the clone will attack the trigger. Outside interference is negated against the trigger and his clone and only the trigger and the clone are capable of damaging each other. (This is to say, they are incapable of damaging other combatants) The power of the clone is a percentage of that of the trigger proportional to the weight of the action. If, for example, the trigger was used on a mass murderer and was deemed deeply black, the clone would be 'much' stronger than the original.. 200% is the theoretical upper limit. Conversely, if the crime was a casual whack or theft and was deemed only slightly "black", the power would diminish anywhere to as far as 1%. This does not mean that it is impossible to defeat a clone with a higher percentage of power than 100%, and there's a lot of room for circumstance, luck, and tactics in such battles. Should the clone win, it will dissolve, returning her abilities.

She gains a black aura when she finds an action "black" and gives a white aura to whoever she uses her ability on would she find an action "white". She loses her black aura and it is given to the clone should she use her trump card. If the clone wins, the aura would return to her and continue with her only as long as her abilities would normally.

Weakness: Her abilities depend entirely on other people. Her abilities do not work (to any significant extent) on anything that isn't sapient. Her abilities depend entirely upon your actions. Her abilities fail if the intended target is completely unrelated to the trigger. Her abilities can fail or otherwise diminish with repentance if the trigger is "black". Her trump card is bound to mirrors. Should the clone be defeated, all of her abilities will be rescinded and she will not be able to select another action for several hours. If she uses her trump card, she is incapable of using her abilities for separate matters. Furthermore, if she feels guilt, her wielding of abilities diminishes until they would leave her control entirely, theoretically still being there, but out of her purview.

Personality: "Hell exists not to punish sinners, but to make sure nobody sins in the first place. I am here so that everyone realizes that. Even if I must hurt you a little, I must make you correct the error of your ways." Long-winded. Easy to make indignant.

History: Originally working in law enforcement, she quickly ascended the legal ladder before anyone could call her young age into question. She gradually trailed away from law enforcement and into more legal matters, moving her battles to the courtrooms, becoming an accomplished detective, lawyer, prosecutor, attorney, eventually landing her in the position of judge. She became renowned for her ability to detect lies and gained a reputation for nagging people over doing the right thing. After quite a long reign with an absolute grip on everyone who entered her court, it was found out that she was gifted and an investigation was launched around her legal practices. While there was no evidence and she was ultimately proved innocent, it ruined her career, casting discrimination and suspicion her way. Very little legal cases were still sent her way, instead usually being delegated to other judges.

Glum for quite a while, she decided to travel the world and eventually met a girl without a name. She was fascinated with the sheer amount of white she would find emanating from her visage every time she checked and became good friends with her. While the girl certainly skipped out on details on her story, Shiki never pressed, sensitive to her emotions, and in turn told her hers.

As time past and Shiki was to meet the girl in a cafe, the girl came to Shiki and told her she planned to build. The girl told her of an island full of gifted, free of anyone's judgement but hers. She was told a fair amount of it was done already and that Shiki would be the greatest judge she could have in her utopia.

    A trip certainly couldn't hurt.

    Shiki never came back.

She eventually learned a few of the girl's friends called her Rachael.

    John

    Name: Johnathan Wisper

    Age: 18

    Gender: ♂

    Appearance: [IMG]

Ability: Permanently bound to an incubus named Zweihänder and a succubus named Xiphos. They are near omnipotent and capable of many things.

Weakness/Limitation: They are bound to John, meaning that if you simply leave the area, his personal demons cannot follow faster than John can. They also require maintenance like that of their lore suggests and have clashing personalities, neither of which are good at taking orders. Their personalities are quite large obstacles in fact, and simply getting one to argue with another might as well be your victory.

Personality: Originally a shy boy with no spine. After dying hilariously and being revived, something in him snapped and he decided to take advantage of his abilities. He's been enforcing a crooked, cruel sense of justice (legitimate crimes, illegitimate punishments) as a vigilante ever since.

History: He was a rather average high school student with a bullying problem. Long story short, he ended up seeking help from the local goth girl. Finding someone who would indulge her, she went the whole 9 yards, complete with blood writing. Of course, she never expected what she got, which was to “summon” a couple of demons, one of which would go on to slaughter her and a large amount of the student body. Said demon also proved to be a rapist and really the entire episode was non-stop trauma.

“This is what you wanted! This is what you got yourself into!”

He later found out said demons were a part of his ability, and that they were very much exactly like their mythological counterparts of incubus and succubus. He exiled himself to Derika. He started living in constant fear and developed genophobia. The demon, Zweihänder, seemed to generally back off proportionately and hasn’t made so much as a single threat since, instead getting his needs from others like Xiphos, the “succubus”. During the Bishamonten incident, (including his death and revival) he got sick of living the way he was and decided to do something with his life. This entailed actively commanding the incubus and succubus like the familiars they were instead of treating them like people, to their dismay. It also entailed providing their maintainance himself. (emotionlessly, notably) While they don’t particularly care about their own comfort, they are concerned with John’s self-destructive behavior.

Zweihänder, Zwei for short is tall with medium-length bleach-blond hair and red eyes. While he has little impulse control, and would enjoy watching the world burn, he cares about John a lot more than he’d ever admit. A stand-up guy if you get to know him.

Xiphos is slightly taller than John with long blue hair and red eyes. An altruist at heart, she tends to come off as the nagging fun-killer. Argues with Zwei more than literally anything else either of them do. Made friends with John at some point, though more as a deal to keep Zwei away than anything. Their friendship was never strong and only got less personal as time went on. Xiphos hasn’t once needed to uphold her end of the bargain.

    Jake

    Name: Jacob De'elCruz

    Age: 19

    Gender: ♂

    Appearance: [IMG]

Ability: Capable of "charging" objects he has come into physical contact with. (Takes roughly one second, more if he can't concentrate and indiscriminate of size) At any given moment he can teleport said object anywhere, with accuracy depending on his vision. Has become specialized with guns, causing charged bullets to take on a more flashy, destructive form. Said bullets are also capable of expending their charge to ricochet themselves a few times without losing momentum.

Has been practicing making bullets (and shooting them) without a gun with mild success. Hurts, but isn't very harmful to more than an insect or small animal and has (very) short range. (Roughly 1 meter or so)

Weakness/Limitation: He can only give any object one charge at a time. He isn't very capable without his guns, and creating bullets himself expends a lot of energy for little payout. Must be in physical contact in order to charge anything.

Personality: A rather excitable person, he's an enormous romanticist, eager to dive into an Indiana Jones fantasy he's convinced exists. Naive.

History: Has had a rather ordinary life. He moved to Brinkhaven and has been living in the dimensional faction since. Had a run in with Iradia, then S immediately after, which caused complete and total fragmentation of his mind. (First a bullet through his brain, then healed, then messed with very thoroughly in a “Jamming a funnel in there” sort of way) While it hasn’t caused significant behavioral changes and he still functions perfectly normally, mental gifted would notice that it’s some seriously scrambled shit up in there.

    Xzyckxse

    Name: XZY0^52 ("Xzyckxse")

Age: 1 (Modeled as roughly 15)

    Gender: ♂

    Appearance: [IMG]

Ability: Has a complex system revolving around 52 cards which he can store data on and apply other data to in order to produce certain effects. The primary effects available to him is to carry more than he should physically be able to store, to capture and enslave creatures, (In a way very much like pokemon) materialize weapons out of thin air, and to fire lasers (or other projectiles) within a certain pattern. Can create more systems with analysis, but cannot create more cards to use in said systems.

Weakness/Limitation: All of the abilities detailed above are complex processes, each with their own drawbacks and flaws. He can only use one of the offensive abilities at once, and everything he does drains battery life. (When I explained everything in detail originally, it took a few pages) When his battery is drained, he will struggle to perform basic tasks, such as getting from place to place, as his bodily processes are severely inhibited and his mechanical side weighs him down. He is normally water-proof, but sustaining heavy damage can cause electrocution and short-circuiting on water contact.

Personality: Very robotic in conversation. (Stiff, to the point) Is known to have random semi-philosophical bouts that usually comes to a productive apogee, producing things such as an oil painting or an improved method of transportation. Tends to be inwardly dissatisfied with such a finished product.

History: Made by Aaron in his ETG laboratory. He is a combination of biological and mechanical, and was designed with his gift. He was the vessel used to escape the facility with so many people and also the source of the explosion that caused said incident. He then went to Brinkhaven with the rest of the escaped.

    Kira

    Name: Kira

    Age: 17

    Gender: ♂

    Appearance: [IMG]

Ability: Explosive detonation. Can violently cause concentrated explosions, comparably to that of rockets or extremely violent and volatile roman candles. Basically, a violent form of laser.

He can use this to fly on his broom at alarming speeds.

Weakness/Limitation: Continual use of his ability may cause the stream of fiery plasma to eventually lose control, making the stream of laser irregular and possibly causing himself to spontaneously combust, lose control of the aim, etc.

Personality: A thief who plays dirty. He wouldn't steal from a defenseless old lady, but he would rob a rich man out of house and home. Known to have an extreme hatred for transportation on anything but his broom.

History: Came from the southern U.S. Discovered Brinkhaven while trying to fly across the Pacific. He decided to stay.

    Murasa

    Name: CAPTAIN Murasa

    Age: 24

Gender: Physically speaking, ♂. Was born a female and swapped bodies with the body he is currently in before losing her other tie-ascot-thing. His chronological age is around 16.

    Appearance: [IMG]

Ability: Gains abilities based on current clothing. Each article of clothing brings a new ability.

Weakness/Limitation: Many articles of clothing have dubious abilities. He must figure out the ability of all clothing herself, which is very time consuming and often with little payout as the ability offered by many articles are useless. Removing his clothing makes him lose the associated ability.

His current outfit (of which he has several of) consists of:

    Underwear (As of yet dubious)

Sailor Pants (As of yet dubious)

Striped Sailor Shirt (Ability to manipulate water, specifically dealing with waves and tides)

Sailor Jacket thing (As of yet dubious)

Sailor Hat (Ability to wield anchors effortlessly. Strength does not apply to non-anchor objects)

Spoiler: A bit of a creeper. He can act seriously if he wanted to, which is rarely. If he takes charge, he will go forth with all the ferocity of a driven anime protagonist. Otherwise he's liable to simply not care. He mostly does whatever he feels like doing because he can.

History: Born and raised an ordinary female, she lived a pretty normal life of a gifted back in the city of the gifted. At some point she swapped bodies with an elderly woman and never swapped back. She doesn’t know where her original body is, as the elderly woman ran off with it. Within her elderly body she made friends with a gifted sailor. She took on the persona of a kindly old lady to match her appearance. She had since forgot all about her ascot’s body-swapping properties and gave another pair to the sailor to wear “as a promise” that he’ll come back from sea when he leaves. One day she simply woke up in his body on the shores of Derika. Of course he immediately left to go back to the city of the gifted, though once he got there people were already being kidnapped by the ETG left and right. He eventually returned on Xzyckxse with all the other escaped prisoners.

    Rana

    Name: Rana Da'arcagnan

    Age: 24

    Gender: ♀

    Appearance: [IMG]

Ability: Ability to draw forth a large variety of things, whether certain circumstances or actual monsters of sorts. Basically, summoning.

Weakness/Limitation: Everything she draws forth requires preparation of sorts, usually of the ritualistic variety. There's an entire hierarchy and catalog for summoning circles along with the inscriptions, symbols, and requirements for each. She must sort through all of this to use her ability effectively.

Personality: "Go away; I'm reading." "Not now; I'm reading." "I'd rather stay here and read." "Give me back that book or I will burn down your house."

History: Who needs to remember unimportant details when you have BOOKS?

    Theme: http://youtu.be/0f1eLReRHGI

    Xheskha

    Name: Xheskha Da'arcagnan

    Age: 28

    Gender: ♀

    Appearance: [IMG]

Ability: Capable of animating things she sees in stories. This includes settings, characters, or even events.

Weakness/Limitation: She cannot do this for nonfictional stories unless some aspects are off. She cannot do this for something she wrote herself and it hardly goes the way intended if she gets someone to write a story for these purposes. Also, the effect/power/significance the characters/events/etc. have in their respective stories does not always equate to the effect/power/significance of what she brings into the real world. Furthermore, each has a time limit, differing based on what she summons.

Despite insisting on Rana leaving the library, she is never seen outside the library. Ever.

Personality: Rather shy. As the chief of staff in Brinkhaven library, she can be helpful, lecture workers, or be downright violent on thieves and vandals. Otherwise she's reserved and quiet.

Has unknown connections to military. Constantly loses bets to Rana

History: Her family owned the largest library on the planet, in which her sister Rana would spend all her time in. It was also the largest collection of written information on gifted in the world and naturally became a target for the ETG. With the help of Rachael, the entirety of the library was moved to Brinkhaven, and they were granted financial compensation with which to make a living off of from Rachael in exchange for making the books publically available. The pay was quite handsome, so she accepted. The library was renovated and Rana was given her own private room at the back of it. The library itself is several stories tall and even reaches underground. It is labyrinthian and has books of all topics and subjects.

    Nex

    Name: Nex Connessione

    Age: 22

    Gender: ♂

    Appearance: [IMG]

Ability: Hair can be compared to incredibly sharp needles dipped in an extremely painful toxin. No actual toxin exists; they are charged with his mind without his control. He is accordingly capable of manipulating hairs that fall off and firing them. He grows and loses a lot of them regularly.

Weakness/Limitation: He is not immune to his own ability, meaning the back of his neck is constantly being torn to shreds because of how itchy it is. He's built up a resistance but it still stings. His hair doesn't come out by force. (it's stuck on there with glue or something)

Personality: Originally walked a much more psychotic path, he's more or less evened himself out by kicking his meds. (Which goes against his court order) While he's much more sensible, he's also much more likely to randomly assault someone, just in a more calm, collected manner.

    History: Bad shit man.

    Aaron

    Name: Aaron Feuhr

    Age: 29

    Gender: ♂

    Appearance: [IMG]

Ability: Technomancy; the manipulation of machinery, their composition and capabilities.

Weakness/Limitation: Isn't as good at making weaponry as much as recreational devices. In the end, all of his machinery are just machines. If you were to separate him from them, he would be powerless.

Personality: Manipulative, scheming, intelligent, critical, and has just a tiny bit of a god complex.

History: A high-ranking ETG scientist, he was given complete creative authority and funding the likes of which surpassed most. He was able to do whatever he damn well pleased as long as he revealed one of his breakthroughs periodically. Even playing the ETG for chumps, he was one of the most productive sources of new weaponry they had. With all his liberties, his section of the ETG had many liberties, and he could even afford to let gifted go or give them comfortable accommodations should he so choose. As such, his part of the ETG painted a wholly different picture than the rest. As such, his friend Valen had no qualms working for him and didn’t even mind what seemed like dirty work. He had the ETG wrapped around his pinky. Eventually a gifted came along that piqued his interest for reasons he can never explain. He never found out what exactly his deal was, but he somehow managed to beat him in a chess match, and per their agreement, he used his creation Xzyckxse to break everyone out and set off an explosion.

The ETG are none the wiser and still think of him as a valuable asset they’ve lost.

    Ven

    Name: Ven Akai

    Gender: ♂

    Age: 20

    Ability: Dude's a cat.

Ven possesses features like that of a feline. He has cat ears and a cat tail and occasionally behaves like one against his better judgement, complete with purring. This increases his physical speed, strength, allows him to hear sounds of a higher pitch, improves his sight when in the dark, and improves his sense of smell to roughly 7.5 times that of a normal human. He can hear better, not strictly because he is a cat, but because he has 4 ears. He also has retractable claws sharp enough to give metal a run for its money that can extend to roughly a foot long and always lands on his feet. He also has much better healing properties than that of a human.

Weakness: Cat hormones make him act stupid, his sight in light is slightly deteriorated, he has less self-control in regards to instincts, his tail and cat ears could be viewed as a weak point since the flesh on it is more vulnerable, (like a cats instead of a human's. Likewise I'd like to mention now that the ears and tail do indeed have fur on them) the wider hearing and increased smell could be used against him. He dislikes water. Not in the sense that it's evil but in the sense that his fur takes forever to dry, which leaves suspicious wet spots on his clothing if he has to show up in public afterward. As well, his mentality can gradually shift to something more feral. When it does, which happens over long periods of time, it can take time to shift back to normal.

    Appearance:[IMG]

Personality: Contrasting the butter he will melt into when you scratch him behind his cat ears, he's pretty stoic most of the time. He's usually friendly, though lately he has taken a turn for the feral. Very feral. So feral in fact that he has stopped living amongst society.

History: He was well-liked in his hometown. He had many friends and a girlfriend to top it off. At some point his abilities came in and he resolved to hide it from everyone. It worked for a while, until the girl he loved took off his signature beanie.

    He panicked.

She knew everyone and didn’t want to deal with anyone thinking of him as a freak. Long story short, he moved away, heard of Brinkhaven, and thought it’s a good a place to go to. His life post-move wasn’t working out so well and thought Brinkhaven would be a good change of pace.

Has since gotten his own apartment.

    Yuugen

    Name: Yuugen Mirida

    Age: Really old

Gender: ♀? Technically has no gender to speak of. Always appears female.

Appearance: [IMG]Her appearance can differ greatly on her whims. In other words, she can control what she looks like, but generally (virtually always) takes on the appearance of a young, blond female.

Ability: Her existence is an illusion; she is a collection of five floating eyes. These eyes can project electricity, and when their beams align, they can create a projection of Yuugen. She is fully sentient and behaves oddly, given that she is made out of electricity. (It's as if she really can trip and fall) Yuugen is fully capable of manipulating this electricity and creating more.

A favorite weapon of hers is a certain solar sword made from and radiating pure electricity.

Weakness/Limitation: Her eyes. She is invulnerable to actual harm since she is made out of electricity, but her eyes are ordinary targets susceptible to damage, which her projection will act as if in pain in response to.

Personality: A very kindhearted person, she only fights for her friends and when she's forced to. (Or when she's dragged into it which she often finds herself in)

History: Who knows? It’s hard to tell with her. It’s heavily implied she’s been in feudal Japan.

    Iradia

    Name: Iradia Vanderschwanck

    Age: 25

    Gender: ♀

    Appearance: [IMG]

Ability: Capable of reviving the deceased with talismans. The resurrected are then under her command.

Weakness/Limitation: When giving an order, the servant's interpretation determines how they go about filling that order. The servants retain full memories of their life before death and their personalities remain intact. They are incapable of removing the tags themselves, but if a talisman would be removed, the servant would return to a corpse.

Personality: Adventurous, adaptable, full of sarcasm, maternal when it serves her, hostile when practical.

History: Explorer of the world (particularly its tombs) and a member of Rachael’s BFF inner circle, she is the female Indianna Jones and a founding member of Brinkhaven. She has her own house outside of Brinkhaven in a clearing in the middle of the forest where she’s lived ever since coming to Derika. She lives right next to some decrepit ruins, but never gets around to exploring them. Her garden is a graveyard.

    Lesua

    Name: Lesua Izarene

Age: 16 I AM THE SOUL OF THE UNIVERSE AND THE SPIRIT OF LIFE. I AM ETERNAL AND I AM NEW.

    Gender: ♀

    Gift (Power): Power tripping.

Unknown circumstances (randomness and while in a pinch mostly) trigger her ability, granting her enormous amounts of power with a large variety of uses. Specifically it can be called granting "HOLY POWER OF THE SEVENTH KIND", as she puts it. This allows for blasts of "HOLY ENERGY" and the like, Forging such energy into weapons, summoning hurricanes and meteors in addition to a numerous array of "buffs" and support-based abilities, including but not limited to increasing strength, energy, healing, and even revival. Heavy likeness to a white mage archetype in general. Refer to personality

She can use her abilities to an extremely minor extent without going on a power trip, but it's quite weak and very limited. She'd take a long time to heal even a basic paper cut and can't revive anything. It's mostly for making light shows and similar recreational flashy nonsense with no practical use.

Weaknesses and Limits: Possibly a side-effect of her ability, possibly a serious mental disorder, but when her ability activates, her entire demeanor shifts into one of a crippling god complex-dominated lunatic. She attains delusions of being "A DIVINE AGENT OF ABSOLUTE POWER" and goes as far as insisting upon ridiculous lies for the sake of maintaining or even aggrandizing her persona. However, upon closer examination one would find she honestly believes what she says; while she's insane that is.

She also loses her abilities altogether if she were to become separated from her crucifix, however she is able to maintain a connection between herself and the cross within a short distance using her "HOLY ENERGY" while on a power trip. (Not much uses for that aside from temporarily separating from it.)

    Refer to personality.

    Appearance:[IMG]

Personality: Sharply contrasting her personality while on a power trip, she is usually quite glum whenever she has to go outside. She memorizes everything that happens while on a power trip, so she doesn't really like socialization on account of how terribly she (feels she) acts. (She instantly assumes everyone hates her.) She's more of an "indoors" type of person. She is however quite light-hearted and energetic in her element, which would be video games. A serious otaku and a "gamer" if there ever was one, she likes to spend all her time in front of a screen. Competitive and hates to lose, she would rather challenge anyone to their video game of choice than have to actually participate in combat. (or any other form of competition for that matter) She regards her crucifix like it's a stuffed animal and calls it by several names including but not limited to Lenny, Albany, and Arkansas. Uses it as a body pillow nightly. She fears losing it and losing her abilities forever despite not particularly liking when they do kick in, a side effect of being very untrusting. She hates the church her "psychotic" side started to herself and thinks them treating her as a goddess is annoying, but does appreciate how they've stopped multiple assassination attempts. The more her church grows, the more anxiety she gets.

History: When she first got her abilities, she destroyed the entire neighborhood. She was given money by her father and, without any words or explicit command saying so, sent to live on her own. At first she went to live by herself, and she did for a while, but somewhere along the line she heard a rumor about Derika. She tracked down the source of the rumor. He wouldn’t elaborate, so she challenged him to a video game. He merely sneered. After getting completely and totally rekt, he refused to tell her about Derika, so she went on a power trip. He revealed how to get to Derika, but his house was never the same again. Or intact.

She bought an apartment in Derika and has been living there since. She dreads going on shopping trips.

Name: 力 (Lì) (never got a last name)

    Age: 16

    Gender: ♂

    Appearance: [IMG]

    Ability: Manipulation of Bagua.

Bagua consists of eight trigrams used in Taoist cosmology to represent the fundamental principles of reality, seen as a range of eight interrelated concepts. Each consists of three lines, each line either "broken" or "unbroken," representing yin or yang, respectively.

    ☰ - 乾 (Qián) which represents 天 (Sky (Heaven))

    ☱ - 兌 (Duì) which represents 澤 (Lake)

    ☲ - 離 (Lí) which represents 火 (Fire)

    ☳ - 震 (Zhèn) which represents 雷 (Thunder)

    ☴ - 巽 (Xùn) which represents 風 (Wind)

    ☵ - 坎 (Kǎn) which represents 水 (Water)

    ☶ - 艮 (Gèn) which represents 山 (Mountain)

    ☷ - 坤 (Kūn) which represents 地 (Earth)

furthermore, each trigram has further meanings such as immovability for Gèn and rapid movement for Lí along with personality traits for each of them.

He is capable of manipulating these elements, applying the 'meanings' of the trigrams, and their other applications. He is also capable of storing a fairly hefty amount of each element.

He isn't very good at manipulation of any sort of Yin-Yang itself.

Weaknesses and Limits: Lì can only channel the world around him for his ability, meaning that he cannot make such things appear from thin air unless the materials were already there. (He would be able to induce combustion in an appropriate environment, but would need to take Earth in order to use it) Furthermore, the elements are basically the fuel to his ability, meaning that he can't make himself fast without fire, can't penetrate things without wind, etc.

His abilities are significantly less than what they are normally without assistance; they are highly susceptible to amplification to varying extents on a case-by-case basis, usually in regards to his view of the symbolism.

He overall has many more shortcomings when manipulating any particular element than a normal manipulator of that element, but makes up for it in his versatility in other uses.

Personality: Was trained to be disciplined, and accordingly shows little emotion and a lot of drive. Every so often his true self shows, which isn't so disciplined. Not entirely fluent in English.

    Incursio

    Name: Incursio

    Age: 19

    Gender: ♂

    Appearance:[IMG]

Ability: Incursio is capable of making himself "the main character". This enables certain conditions to go in certain ways such so that it's as if he was the star of a movie/book/video game. This also has a tendency to cast those around him into certain tropes, cohesive toward clichés and can grant him certain abilities, (overall temporary) depending on the circumstance. If his ability activates in a cabin in the woods for example, expect zombies or psycho killers and that Incursio will either destroy them forever or find out whoever is responsible and (usually) put a stop to it. His ability can flex in many ways, but while active, Incursio 1. Has some degree of plot armor, as if he is the only one capable of resolving the conflict presented and 2. The conflict will be resolved, and furthermore Incursio will have something to do with it.

Additionally, Incursio is immune to such things as antinite; the workings of his ability are an enigma and the additional abilities he may or may not gain are consistently explained as part of his "story"-thus remaining as though separate from his ability altogether, until it is wiped away (most of the time) by the next time his ability reactivates.

Weaknesses and Limits: Incursio isn't actually capable of actively controlling his ability. He can vaguely control what his movie is about more or less and activate it himself, but he is not in control of what happens, and if he waits too long it is decided for him, forcing him it into activation.

Furthermore, when his ability is activated, additional conditions are applied to him, more often than not to spice things up. For example, it could wound him terribly, make him starving, or wipe his memory. As well, he cannot set up a simple task for himself and call it a day; if he attempts to make it about retrieving an apple, he will likely forget about setting up the task, ignoring said apple until it becomes the apple of discord and something is held ransom for the apple.

Personality: Able to look at problems from multiple perspectives. Somewhat kind. Likes soda a lot and has an unusual fondness for Hydra, Kobra, and other similar fictional organizations. Has a personal vendetta against several kid's shows. Not very serious overall.

History: Let’s just say it has to do with vampires and majyx. These were previous “movies” of course.

    Theme: http://youtu.be/orFsuc_DaCg

    Laguna

    Name: Laguna

    Age: 15

    Gender: ♂

Ability: Laguna is capable of aligning sounds to a grid of some sort-whether a musical staff, a literal grid, or like that of a midi player, he can turn music into an offensive weapon. His offense functions different ways depending on how he aligns the grid, (smaller for accuracy or bigger for range, different grid types for different offense) but generally anything in the grid corresponding to the note played is vaporized or otherwise heavily damaged. Anything on the wrong line of the staff at the wrong time will get vaporized or otherwise heavily damaged. Anything in the wrong key's line in the wrong time~ you get the idea. More informal forms of offense (launching notes off the staff for example) reduce the efficiency of his notes' power, but are much more versatile. He is capable of using the music notes in a variety of ways. Furthermore, while he cannot move the notes, he can move the grids.

His golden musical staffs are dangerous impaling weapons.

He is also capable of playing virtually any song, including the impossible ones. However, if he wouldn't be able to play it himself normally, it is strenuous (as if heavily using his ability) to do so.

Weakness: Although he can use music to varying ends, they all require music and they all cannot be controlled directly by Laguna. If Laguna messes up and plays the wrong note, the wrong corresponding grid box will not vaporize its contents. As such, he cannot mess up on purpose and has to be particular in his song selection. Furthermore, cutting a song short is usually a terrible idea-as if adding a cooldown. As well, one can make him mess up. Additionally, while he could do something like change the music notes into fireballs, he would only be able to do so with an appropriate song. A slow, calm song is usually unbecoming of fire.

    Appearance: [IMG]

Personality: Tries to portray himself as man full of hatred and vengeance, but is downright friendly and often fails to keep up such a facade. Not afraid to cause significant collateral damage as means to an end, but could never hurt something adorable and defenseless.

History: His parents died to a man named Deemas who was famous among the ETG for killing enormous quantities of people. Vowing vengeance on Deemas and Brinkhaven, he has come to Derika. The ETG have recognized his plight and mildly support his ambitions. He has lodgings on the ETG base on Derika.

    Kirin

    Name: Kirin Kalliope

    Age: 26

    Gender: ♂

    Appearance: [IMG]

Ability: Capable of synthesizing and manipulating any element on the periodic table

Weakness/Limitation: Manipulation of even basic materials require enormous alchemic and stoichiometric knowledge before performing even a simple action. It would be almost entirely useless in the hands of most.

Personality: A very dedicated scientist. Calculating and restrained, though he often finds himself sidetracked by the sheer quantity of woman who throw themselves at him. (404 error: No explanation found)

Much more physically able than his appearance would lead one to believe.

    Meenah

    Name: Meenah Bind

    Age: 16

    Gender: ♀

    Appearance: [IMG]

Ability: Can manipulate certain aspects of physics, allowing her to output significantly more than her input and vice versa, basically enabling her infinitely powerful strength, otherwise impossible speed, the ability to withstand most attacks and a complete and total violation of gravity and similar universal laws.

Personality: Youngest and somehow most responsible faction leader. She has a larger sense of duty and pride than most, but is prone to childish tendencies (ie. stubbornness and petulance) and has a large temper. She also may or may not be slightly insane, depending on how you view her behavior.

    Crow

    Name: Caedere “Crow” Fiore

    Age: 31

    Gender: ♂

    Appearance: [IMG]

Ability: Can mutate any part of himself in any way to accommodate virtually any change.

Weakness/Limitation: Changes aren't instant (fast, but not instant) and requires some good thought to be meaningful. Each change also brings some sort of biological downside. For instance, if he became a godzilla, he would still have to power that large body with the energy in his formerly normal sized body, which would likely quickly cause the godzilla to die of exhaustion.

Personality: Has something of a temper and has become a slight alcoholic ever since the girl he was hitting on died. Fails to get over her repeatedly. Quick to violence and quick to apologies.

    Amadeus

    Name: Amadeus Luxord

    Age: 19

    Gender: ♂

Appearance:[IMG]Usually wears a dark (nearly black) purple cloak.

Ability: Complete and utter control of the volition of any mind within a certain range somewhere between 100 and 500 cubits radius

Weakness/Limitation: Going down his limbs are small lines (perpendicular to the length of his arm) that illuminate with each mind under his control, meaning there is an upward limit to how many minds he can control, but that number is unknown. Disrupting him can release his control over all of his victims, and he has very notable phobias of robots, violent plants, and other things he is incapable of controlling.

Personality: Rather princely, he likes to feel he is entitled, but doesn't outwardly show it. He has good manners and is well aware that his inner thoughts are hideously self-centered. His aforementioned phobias have developed into a tendency to commit hate crimes. (or rather, attempt to and fail) Despite this he is very far from a cold-blooded person and can be rationalized with at all times.

    Akira

    Name: Akira Ciago

    Age: 20

    Gender: ♂

    Appearance: [IMG]

Ability: Extreme luck, to the point that everything goes his way.

Weakness/Limitation: He tends to never get anything done, going on back to back to back to back to back vacations instead of anything productive. If you're strong enough, he's also unlikely to bother you ever.

Personality: Mary Sue to the max. He may have (substantial, perhaps even crippling) character flaws, but no one ever notices due to his luck. He doesn't seem to be very responsible given that he is seen less than any other faction leader.

    Rachael

    Name: Rachael

Age: Somewhere between 17 and 25. She usually doesn't have time for people who have time to ask.

    Gender: ♀

    Appearance: [IMG]

Ability: Limit Breaker. The ability to transcend any limits.

Weakness/Limitation: This does not mean band-aids can revive the dead. "Limits" aren't about what x can do, but rather what x does, and how it can do it much better.

*Before the Bishamonten incident, her ability fluctuated to work in different ways and was infinitely more useful, to the point of being able to do almost anything. Certain events have changed how it works.

Personality: Incredibly kind and helpful, as she feels that with her gift, every little thing is her responsibility. This of course immediately poses the problem that she just can't plain handle the responsibilities she gives herself. She tends to work herself to the bone, accruing sleep deprivation in the process very often. Consequentially, she's known to be moody and sometimes heavy-handed, but she's usually more forgiving than not and always well-meaning. She's consistently way over her head, but will always get the job done. It's a burdensome fate she's saddled herself with, yet every day she'll put on a fake smile for those around her and continue to walk the path she’s taken.

Her friends are constantly forcing her to take breaks.

    Snow

    Name: Snow Jackals Christensen

    Age: 0 (Biologically, 16)

    Gender: ♂

    Appearance: [IMG]

Ability: Can manipulate various "cold" objects and change the way they behave in different temperatures; He can make water freeze without changing its actual temperature, making things like hot ice a reality. To be more clear, his ability is like the manipulation of ice, (and by extension frozen things) without actually being able to manipulate ice specifically.

    His specialty is blood.

Weakness/Limitation: He is incapable of making objects behave like they would at a higher temperature; only how they would at a lower temperature and returning them to normal. He also becomes unstable in high temperatures, making his abilities behave in odd ways.

Personality: Neither Flamboyant nor Stoic, he's usually of a sullen tone. When he has something to latch onto, he has a drive and determination unlike most, willing to tear down a mountain stone by stone to get what he wants done. Has a few animalistic qualities and not in the least familiar with proper ways to communicate with another human being. Has very little social inhibitions.

History: Has literally none. I intend to RP him from the moment he becomes conscious.

    Theme:

    Ceft

    Name: Ceft Michaels

    Age: 15

    Gender: ♂

Appearance: Chestnut hair that curls into cowlicks everywhere. Closest aesthetic analogue would be fire emblem awakening's Donny.

Ability: Capable of producing various herbs, chemicals and mixtures from his skin, usually of the drug/remedy variety. If for example, he needs acetylsalicylic acid, he can create acetylsalicylic acid. If he needs some aloe, he could grow aloe leaves from his skin, then rip them off. Generally speaking, he can produce any ingredient you could find in an apothecary.

Weakness/Limitation: Producing these items come at the cost of his energy; producing enough to treat large quantities of people can push him into exhaustion. He is also hopelessly crushing on his Goddess.

Personality: Youngest priest of the church of Lesua, he is a devout servant of hers, loyal to her beck and call. He's rather shy, unable to speak his mind often and easy to boss around. Despite this, he is very much filled with chivalry and will jump to the aid of those he feels need defending. Gets nervous in mundane situations easily but can defend an innocent or execute a killing order without mercy.

History: His parents converted to the church of Lesua, and he followed suit. His parents have since died, and a minister in the church has taken on the role of his guardian. He eventually became a priest, the youngest priest in the church by over 30 years. Lesua (crazy version) recognized his potential and dedication to protect her while her ability was inactive and as such granted him two objects to aid in it, claiming he was too slow and not good at killing. The first floated and was mostly invisible. When placed on his back, it would hover over it and grant him the ability to materialize wings. The second was a cross necklace that could materialize into one of four weapons (A gun, a two-handed sword, a pair of tonfa or a scythe) depending on how he held it when he activated it. Both are on loan from Lesua and are attributed to her own abilities.

I made his weakneses smaller, but he is suposed to be a little underpowered at the start because he is not yet familiar with his gift.

I think these things over way too much. Call me if there's something that doesn't feel right.

This character is a newcomer to Derika and Brinkhaven, and since I don't know yet what exactly happens to immigrants, I'll have to ask the GM/moderators for the details of entry and stuff.

    =======================================================
(“Ann, Anna, Anne, Bell, Belle, Phones, call me whatever you like. Doesn’t really matter anyway, so long as I know it’s me”)

    -Name: Annabelle Silvers

    -Age: 19

    -Gender: F

-Gift: [Daydreamer ~ Ephemeral Reality] --- Anne can, in a word, go ‘through’ the ‘border’ between the ‘worlds’ of ‘dream’ and ‘waking’, between the ‘imaginary’ and the ‘real’.

In practical terms, she is capable of ‘bringing over’ objects – and, potentially, concepts – from the ‘imaginary’ world into the ‘real’ world, essentially creating things out of virtually nowhere into a space around her. Examples of the objects she may ‘pull’ from the other world go from simple things like sticks and stones to swords to intangible ‘things’ such as electricity and fire to, potentially, concepts such as ‘I can fly’ and ‘I can run as fast as a deer’.

It has been noted that her abilities are strengthened at times where her primordial fight/flight instincts activate.
Anne can currently manifest objects within a 3-feet-radius sphere around her person, and maintain those objects up to a 30-feet-radius sphere; she is confident, however, that the effective ranges of her gift can develop beyond that, up to at least twice the initial number.

    -Weaknesses and Limits:

Anne’s ability is severely limited to the extents of her imagination and mental focus; creating complex objects take time, and being mentally distraught can impair her abilities. She also first requires a ‘fix’, an ‘anchor’, a mental focus, something to lead her imagination in the right way, before she creates anything – she can use a battery-less stun gun/taser as a medium to create jolts of electricity, for example.

Anne’s creations are transient, ephemeral. She may cause lasting effects with her creations, but eventually all the matter and energy that directly results from her creation will vanish, instantly if she either cannot keep focus on it or it gets too far from her.
On that note, it gets harder for her to use her ability the more it would disrupt the natural order of things (such as the laws of physics and mass/energy conservation).

Anne cannot create living beings; additionally, unless she has complete knowledge about the objects she wishes to create, her creations will always be flawed in some way. Even then, a lack of focus can disrupt an otherwise perfect ‘dreaming’ – more than once she tried to create a flashlight, for example, only to end up with a plastic prop that doesn’t do anything except look like one.

Usage of her abilities will cause Annabelle to feel unnaturally sleepy, and, eventually, experience symptoms of sleep deprivation.
On a final note, Annabelle is rather inexperienced with her Gift.

-Appearance: Annabelle is an averagely-built young woman, standing at maybe 5’11’’, with slender body proportions that really can’t be much, if any, more than 150-odd pounds in weight (she’s rather finicky about exposing her body weight, you see). Her skin is fair, her eyes are blue, and her shoulder-length, wavy hair, usually set free unless otherwise too inconvenient, is naturally a shade of light brown. She may have multiple clothes for multiple occasions, but they generally consist of a sleeveless or short-sleeved shirt-under-jacket ensemble alongside shorts/trousers, gloves and sneakers.

What she pretty much always keeps on her person, however, are her set of dark green headphones.

-Personality: Annabelle is… Well, she can’t exactly be classified as a ‘normal’ young girl, but she’s not exactly very ‘abnormal’, either. Though she's almost borderline narcoleptic at times, though she may seem rather detached and apathetic to the things that happen around her, though she may lack femininity, though she may be predisposed towards snark, though she might spend too much time on the internet, though she might have too much of the internet in her head, she’s really not a bad person at heart… But let’s see how it goes.

-History: Annabelle was, in most senses of the word, a normal person born to a normal family. Not exactly rich, but definitely not poor. Not exactly spoiled, and not exactly neglected. Still, her parents were busy, busy enough that she didn’t exactly get very much of what is called ‘family time’, and busy enough that they had to move around from state to state every so often.

Because of that, she had to transfer from school to school multiple times, her friends in real life generally changing as she did, never leaving very much time for bonding. Not surprisingly, she was easily immersed in the internet – one of the communities that won’t change no matter where she is. Moving around much also meant that she was more exposed to the world’s darker sides; self-defense and martial arts lessons were amongst the things she had to take (fortunately enough, she liked them), and she had to see and experience things children shouldn’t see nor experience.

Still, despite that, she managed to live her life normally – as normally as she could, anyway. Almost.
It was really supposed to be an ordinary day when she found herself running from a bad crowd, desperately rummaging in her bag for that little bottle of pepper-spray she believed she had in there all the time, before she finally found it in her hands and managed to escape to the safety of home, tired and sleepy.
She had actually forgotten to bring the bottle that day. That day, when her Gift first manifested.

Of course, she didn’t immediately notice. Months passed by, and the only real difference she felt – and likely ignored – was that she would occasionally feel sleepy all of a sudden. Until, in an utterly whimsical spur of the moment, she tried to imitate a certain anime character… And poured just enough focus on her desire. To say that she was surprised by an actual metal sword suddenly appearing in her hands was an understatement. She had heard about the Gifted, she had heard about the ETG, and to think she was one of the Gifted…

Her parents were, quite fortunately, as kind and understanding as they had ever been, and she managed to live as she did for a time, the occasional practice of her Gift notwithstanding. Still, secrets can’t stay secret forever, and she eventually found herself en route to the island of the gifted – Derika. Armed with all her parents could arm her with, she silently hoped for the future.

    Equipment:
-Her ‘almost-too-big-for-me’ backpack, containing the necessities, a couple changes of clothes, minimal camping gear and first-aid kit, two cans of food and 800ml of water.
    -$50
    -Survival Knife
    -Flashlight
    -Stungun
-The clothes she’s wearing right now
-Her sturdy, dark green headphones, containing well over 512MB worth of music

Okay, now, since the only problem seems to be the wording of my power, I think I'll work on that then.

And then after, I'll probably get a contract from the ETG.

I've been having a hard time with the resistance scaling on his ability.
First of all, I think it is better for everybody if I remove willpower. It's pretty much immeasurable, so it's hard to work with.
The bigger problem is how strong is it on the average guy. I figured it'd be strong enough to mind-control to some degree. Sure you can't convince him to kill his family, but it's not too hard to get him to hand over his expensive watch. On the average Gifted it varies a bit. Those with a lot of physical prowess due to their gifts will be influenced very little, again like a suggestion from a friend, while those who focus on more mental prowess (IE the stuff making ability above) are influenced just a bit less than the average dude. So you can convince them to not murder you horribly, it might just be a bit more difficult.
It's hard to balance your own ability so I would appreciate any help.
    Suggestions?

On an unrelated note, if I edit a post it is usually right after i posted it, fixing any grammar and spelling mistakes I just noticed, I do it a lot

I'm probably as stumped as you are regarding the mind control thingy, and it's worse considering I've never really dealt with stuff like that much. It's a given that mind-control works better if the mind-controller's orders doesn't conflict with the victim's nature and stuff (yeah, you're more likely to do things you like to do), focusing on multiple people would certainly be more difficult than focusing on one, and it's also very likely that people with similar capabilities are significantly harder to take hold of. So far, I can't even see the problem with your decision, aside from maybe being a tad underpowered.

Though... Then, how would the ability work on simple-minded 'ferals' with supreme physical capabilities but generally run on instinct? Or a particularly intelligent/wise, though frail, target? Maybe those simple-minded 'ferals', though they are affected with the control less, tend to follow those suggestions like cats chase after a catnip-spiked toy? And those frail wise men, though affected with the control more, has enough wisdom to keep the control from influencing them as much as it would have? Ugh, I dunno.

I'm having worries about balancing Anne's abilities, too...

Exactly, but someone's mental capacity is a lot harder to measure than physical strength. So I'm a bit stuck. I'll just wait for Ryik to throw in his opinion before changing stuff.

Like I said, that's not necessary. Keep in mind the rules regarding changing your gift. It's in the OP. You should include the full potential for your gift in the app from the start and detail how they don't initially have full access to it.
    Accepted.
    Welcome aboard.
As for immigrating, the standard form of arrival is by boat. (Steel hull required) The aquatic wildlife can get very hostile.
They vary. It's commonplace for boats faring to Derika to come equipped with heavy artillery, and you can RP an encounter with something if you'd like.

No one arrives by plane though. There are no airports on Derika and not really any good landing areas.

ETG also offer trips, (in disguise) but it's just a big (and highly effective) trap.

Your ability in it of itself isn't/wasn't that bad, but the vagueness leaves room for some really bad shit the likes of which must be policed before being accepted. (For example, there was a gravity manipulator by the name of Deemas. His app was vague, and thus no one realized he could instantly crush internal organs of anyone around him until it was too late.)

    This sounds good;
Every person is granted a theoretical number based on their physical and mental prowess.
    5 is average.

    THEN ROLL THREE 6-SIDED DICE.

Just something I came up with. Roll 3 six-sided dice to determine what you can control or not. If physical+mental prowess is equal to the number rolled, they aren't controlled. If it's lower, then they are. If it's higher, then they aren't. Depending on how close you were, you can do lesser things; like suggestions. This allows for less gray areas in player interactions; If you win the dice roll, you control them, period. (Assuming they don't have a reason that that isn't power-playing) If you lose it, then it's up to the other person to decide how to handle your "suggestions".

You can get other people (preferably an unaffiliated party) to roll the dice for you if other people so desire, all rolling being done with this.
3 6-sided die rolls make for a perfect 50-50 chance of controlling someone with a combined mental/physical value of 10, as you can see here. It also makes it so that you always control someone with a value of 2 (or lower) and never someone with a value of 18 (or higher), with rarities for each number making controlling someone rarer the higher they are and controlling someone lower less likely to fail. One roll per character per day.

Of course, this is all just a suggestion. An overly precise one admittedly, but just a possible route to go down.
    Lol no terrible idea.
Yes, yes it is an option.
Many RPers have the time of day be whatever it needs to be, depending on their character. For example, instead of waiting for night, they say that it's night for them. Assuming characters that are relevant to whatever they are doing are all doing the same thing, then they go by night while others who need daylight for whatever they are doing and aren't interacting with any of them go by daylight.

Everyone's RPing day though, and there's not really any reason to be RPing the night yet, so day.

As for that part about the weather in my post, the southernmost parts of Derika are covered in Snow. There's also a desert to the north. The rest of Derika, including Brinkhaven, has pretty temperate climate year-round. Most of Derika is covered in forest.

  16. IceSolstice

    IceSolstice Scruffy Nerf-Herder

Name: SDK-079 or Special Designation 'K-079'

    Age: 13

    Gender: Female

Gift: Her cells can produce nanites. Nanites are by default, semi-biological, but can be manipulated into any shape and composition granted that body contains the necessary elements. As such, she consumes metal and other useful materials (which are digested with the help of nanites). Nanites can perform small-scale chemical reactions, be stored in specific cells, and work alongside her cells to increase physical capabilities and regeneration. Nanites are normally fueled by glucose, but can be powered by other means. She can also manually shut down/hibernate nanites to conserve energy. Nanites naturally move within her body through her circulatory system. If her nanites are separated from the main body, they can still function and be controlled within eyesight radius through a mental link. For now, only 10 groups of nanites can be controlled outside of her body and can accelerate up to 400 ft/s over the duration of 3 seconds. If nanites are lost permanently, her body increases production of nanites to balance out the decreased concentration. When her Gift first developed, only few cells were able to produce nanites, but her Gift is gradually spreading to other cells. Since nanites are housed within her cells, her body mass is higher than usual.

Weaknesses/Limits: She requires a lot of energy to maintain nanites, and therefore needs copious amounts of calories. The maximum size limit she can create with her nanites is approximately her body size.

Appearance: 4' 11” Due to a genetic disorder, her hair is pure white. Her eyes are an ice-blue shade. Typically wears her long hair down.

Personality: Cold and calculating. She is without morals due to the training at the hands of ETG. She follows and obeys instructions from the ETG not because she is loyal, but because it is the only thing she has ever known.

History: Born in a small superstitious village. When her parents and the rest of the village saw that she was born with white hair, she was immediately labelled as a monster and a bad omen. Parents only kept her because they didn't have the will to kill her. Was sold out by her parents to the ETG when she was four after they found out about her Gift (she had not shown any outward signs of her Gift until then). She was never given a proper name by her parents as they loathed her. When the ETG took her in, her identification became SDK-079 to signal that she was to be treated and trained as a living weapon. While being transported in the Pacific, the ship was destroyed by a faction raid and in the commotion, she got a concussion and lost the ability to retrieve most of her past memories (for now). She lost almost all of her episodic memory, but still retains memories related to instincts and skills. She was taken in by the factions for questioning. Currently in the Mental Faction for interrogation.

    Equipment: Standard ETG uniform.

To what degree can she manipulate her nanites? Do they fly? How fast can you move them? Both outside and in your body. If she was taken in by the factions, she'd be in the Mental Faction for interrogation. What exactly can she remember? How long was she a part of ETG? The longer she was a part of ETG, the more training she would have obviously.

The Gift and the weakness is fine, but the history is on the thin side. Did her parents know about her Gift from her birth? If not, then why was she only given up to ETG when she was four years old? If her parents only found out about her Gift when she was four, why wasn't she given a name when she was born?

It's great to see everyone posting apps! I'll have my two characters in soon, I just have to update their history. The links have been added in everyone, so if you feel like learning more about the Gifted saga you can revisit the previous forums to take a look. We also have a lively Steam Group that I recommend people join. Maximus post Maaaaaax, Vance needs his comrade, and Biokinesis is too cool of a Gift to go to waste.

I hope I didn't miss anyone else's apps. If I did just bring it to my attention, I would never purposefully ignore someone.
