Ummm... @Armagon I wonder what we can do on the Fabrics? Make them more useful, and if allowed... let there be "powered clothing" which will consist of either fabric or leather plus the half the armors' ore count.
Didn't you guys say no magic? (Or nothing that resembles it) Staves used to channel energy seems like glass-cannon WIZARDS to me, but under a different name..
How does this work? Is it just based off a sort of attribute system that each piece assigns? So some armour would buff gun firerate / damage etc. which means you could mix and match different armour pieces from different paths? If this has already been covered in a previous post, sorry, I havent read all posts to this one but only the first page.
I am not sure I agree with current idea of armor division. From what it looks like, it not only doesn't take care of linear progression of gear, it simply makes it linear progression of 'class-oriented' gear from three different paths. I'd prefer rather more fluid choice of equipment, where it doesn't try to fit certain category, just have differences when it comes to all kinds of items. Sure, I dislike linearity and I dislike lienar progression through equipment with it's 'this is tier 2 sword so it's better than tier 1 sword'. But current endeavor doesn't really change that anyway.
This may have been anwsered before... but seven pages of text is a bit much to sift through. I assume that this is only going to be for endgame characters, correct, or incorrect? ??
So... That's it for the fighters. That's interesting, but now only two types of ore for each class type would be a little low, wouldn't it? The strenght difference between two corresponding gear must be phenomenal. Unless one of these have better energy supply than defense and vice versa, in that case, it holds up. So, I take it that the non fighter group of character can forget these ore as equipment. I wonder if they'll have anything special besides regular clothes...
I'd say it does - remember, the idea is that you can mix and match gear from different "classes." So gear is not limited to player class, because there is no player class. By using different combinations of gear you can effectively create your own "class." Using only one type of gear will allow you to become a "pure" variant of a given "class," but you're not limited by that.
It's nice that all 'Top tier' characters will not all be the same now, and if you had some friends to play with, you could make quite a good team.
You are correct, I can mix gear from different categories. However, the end result at best won't be much different in effect from what player can do now. This new segregation can only help specialization of characters, I am afraid - a thing not bad on it's own, but simply not as important for me as a fluidity one can find in a range of equipment for all kinds of characters, not just a few archetypes you can at most mix equipment of to balance it's gains.

I think it's kind of premature to state that for a fact, don't you? Kind of depends how it's implemented, doesn't it?
I think that we need more materials like Impervium, more types of weapons (fire and melee), and level system in the weapons (more speed, damage, etc) and more types of armors.
Another system in the game that as been redone! SuperCool! I can't wait for the new and redone sprites, engine and well whole game! Between the poo monster, the music sheets, the numerous systems that have been remade. I feel like you will never get the final product done. I don't get why people are exited for this. I might/will be change again. Starbound teached me something I should have already know. Never trust an indy compagny whit your money before you get the final result. Don't get me wrong I dig indy games. Numerous examples of good games could be named here. But it's a risky buisness. And there are numerous example of failure too. What starbound need is a closer. Someone able to say "ENOUGH", or is willing to say NO. Sometimes great ideas have a negative impact on the developement of a game. What I'm trying to say is: get the game done or you might just have one of those failure story. A jerk? Maybe. But a jerk who paid for something that is not nearly what was promised... A YEAR AGO...
How many equipment tiers are we down to now anyway? Seems like we're going to have like 4 stages to the game by the time release comes round
I dont know about this tho... This looks way too much like teraria now. Armour for swords, guns and magic. This armour should rather change the use of tech imstead of fighting style...
Zar roc, the game is basically Space Terraria. Deal with it. Armor changing the use of tech? Please explain, because that sounds like it doesn't make sense.
