What do you think the next race will be?

By 60's western culture I mean 1960's.

 

I want a Gauna or a Flood-expy creature that turned out to be the "mother of all those Tentacles!"

 

I reconsider my original post. I would like something lovecraft inspired for sure. Shame 'lovecraft' means 'as far into nightmare territory as you can get'.

 

On the Agaran Menace thread I saw people mention the Floran codex in which the Apex are told to be kidnapping and experimenting on Florans to create bio-weapons against them. Eventually a theory came up that the Agarans are most likely the bio-weapon itself that the Apex failed to control. Agarans are probably just a background race that relates to the core lore and I doubt it's going to become playable.

I really like yclatious' idea of the "Precursor" race, but that would be a silly for them to create a gateway and literally put up a hint of their existence for everyone to see. It's not the time for them to reveal themselves. Not yet.

I'm really hoping for an antagonist race that would be a threat to everyone. It would be a good reason for other races to rethink their relationships. Insecticide race would be awesome, especially the Mantis that someone had already suggested. Arachnids would be cool too. Some mysterious warmonger race that lives deep in the cosmos would find new species to feast on when they find and use those gates.
